Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, a stalwart of conservative values, delivered his state-of-the-nation address with bold plans for 2025. His declaration? Unprecedented tax relief for mothers blessed with multiple children.
According to European Conservative:
“Most of the new measures are meant to help families raise more kids, with the most important new element being the expansion of the country’s unique lifetime tax exemption from mothers of four to those with three and two children.
Hungarian mothers with three children will be given lifetime income tax exemption from October this year, while the same will be gradually expanded to cover mothers with two kids starting January 2026. These measures are estimated to affect 250 thousand families with three children, and another 600 thousand raising two.”
Hungary is making history with the largest tax cut in Europe & the entire Western world!
We are building the world’s first family-centred economy: One-child mothers exempt from income tax until they turn 30.
Two or more children? No income tax for life!

Orbán emphasized, “There will only be more births if the mothers feel financially secure.” He credited the Fidesz government’s generous family policies for averting a potential 200,000 fewer births since 2010.
Besides the radical tax exemption, Hungarian families have already been enjoying tax deductions, akin to systems in other nations. Orbán intends to double these deductions, enabling parents to deduct €50 monthly for one child, €200 for two, and €500 for three. Additionally, allowances and childcare benefits tied to parental leave will also become tax-free.
Even though these tax cuts are anticipated to increase public spending, Orbán assures that Hungary’s robust economic growth will allow them to continue reducing public debt.
Orbán’s family-centric policies have garnered attention worldwide. The government offers large, interest-free loans to newlyweds planning children within five years, which transform into grants post-birth. Mothers of four have enjoyed income tax exemptions for years and can apply for substantial subsidies for seven-seater minivans.
These strategies directly combat demographic decline by boosting the native population, favoring domestic growth over mass migration policies prevalent in other countries.
