Germany’s leftist Foreign Minister, Annalena Baerbock of the Green Party, is set to become the next President of the United Nations General Assembly. Her nomination by Germany’s Foreign Office places her in line to take on this prestigious role, which Germany is slated to hold next.
During her tenure, Baerbock, a co-leader of the Green Party, has overseen a decline in Germany’s global influence. Her elevation to this international position reflects her unwavering dedication to the globalist agenda, akin to the recent appointment of former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte as NATO Secretary General, despite being rejected by Dutch voters.
Baerbock is expected to be formally elected in June, with her term commencing in September. This development, reported by Der Spiegel, appears to be a mere formality due to internal UN agreements.
As reported, the role of UN General Assembly President is considerably less influential than that of the UN Secretary-General, currently held by Portugal’s António Guterres. Baerbock will represent all UN member nations and deliver one of the opening speeches at the annual UN General Assembly, a gathering for heads of state from 193 member nations to discuss pressing global issues.
Baerbock’s Green Party co-leader, Robert Habeck, has filed a staggering 730 ‘hate crime’ complaints with the police, primarily against individuals who have insulted him online. This includes a hefty fine of €7,800 imposed on a pensioner for calling him an idiot. Together, Habeck and Baerbock are emblematic of Germany’s increasingly authoritarian stance on free speech.
Under their leadership, Germany has witnessed an economic downturn, marked by the closure of the last three nuclear power plants and a halt in affordable Russian gas imports. These policies have resulted in skyrocketing energy prices, challenging the competitiveness of German companies globally.
Opposition to Baerbock’s UN candidacy has emerged from Russia. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova criticized the appointment, citing Baerbock’s ancestry. “It would be strange to see the granddaughter of a Nazi proudly talking about her grandfather’s ‘heroic deeds’ occupying the presidency of the General Assembly 80 years after victory [in World War II],” Zakharova remarked.
The Green Party, led by Baerbock, now holds only 12% of the national vote in Germany, trailing behind the CDU, AfD, and Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s SPD.

Meanwhile, the conservative Alternative for Deutschland (AfD) party has seen a surge in support, reaching 23%, narrowing the gap with the CDU to a mere 4 percentage points.
