Romania is in turmoil after globalist influences reportedly pressured authorities to ban Calin Georgescu, a leading presidential candidate, from the upcoming election. Georgescu, a staunch advocate for peace in Ukraine and a democratic Romania, was initially leading with a significant 40% of voter support. The authorities canceled the first round of elections, which Georgescu had won, and detained him under suspicious circumstances.
Bucharest has seen significant unrest following the announcement of his disqualification from the May poll.
On Thursday, conservative commentator Tucker Carlson released a video interview with Calin Georgescu. In the interview, around the 15:39 mark, Georgescu accused high-profile globalists, including Tony Blinken and Emmanuel Macron, of orchestrating his removal to prevent a peacemaker from gaining power in Romania. Following this, Romanian authorities raided Georgescu’s residence.
Georgescu claims that European elites are treating Romania as a mere satellite nation.
Tucker Carlson: What role did US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, play in Romanian politics?
Georgescu: Everybody knows that was a foreign intervention, and particularly from Secretary of State, Blinken, that he intervened in the elections and simply dictate what the system has to do. It’s absolutely everybody knows about this situation, including, of course, President Macron and Maia Sandu from Moldova as well. They intervened. But the most important was Secretary of State Blinken.
Tucker Carlson: What did he do and say that affected your election Romanian politics?
Georgescu: Well, simply was an intervention. They don’t… Very clear. They don’t need free Romania. To be mentioned that the largest military base of NATO is in Romania. Probably you know about that… Of course, they need to launch the World War III from Romania. With this situation, of course, they can involve all Europe and also United States. So they have interest. They have interest in war…
Georgescu explained the strategic importance of Romania, emphasizing its geographic significance. He highlighted that Romania has the longest boundary with Ukraine, making it a key player in European geopolitics. According to Georgescu, Romania is vital for the European Union, Macron, and NATO as a launch point for potential conflicts.
He elaborated on Romania’s strategic importance as a pivotal gateway for war or peace, given its extensive boundary with Ukraine — 380 miles compared to Poland’s 330 and Hungary’s 80 miles. Georgescu described Romania as an essential asset for NATO and the European Union due to its proximity to Ukraine and its potential role in launching military actions, particularly in the Black Sea region.
