A recent DHS memo sheds light on the troubling background of Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a figure who has become a darling of the Democrat-media elite. This El Salvadorian national, found illegally residing in Maryland, was ordered removed from the United States by an immigration judge back in 2019 due to his alleged ties with the notorious MS-13 gang.
Currently residing in El Salvador’s infamous CECOT prison, Abrego Garcia’s story took another twist when a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper pulled him over in 2022 for reckless driving. The trooper’s suspicion was piqued when he saw eight individuals crammed into the vehicle, all claiming that they were headed for construction work, yet without any luggage to support their claims.
The details of this incident were laid out in a memo obtained by Fox News. The memo reveals that all individuals in the car shared the same address as Abrego Garcia, raising further suspicions of human trafficking. The Prince Georges County Police Gang Unit further identified Abrego Garcia as a member of MS-13, a violent El Salvadoran gang designated as a terror organization by President Donald Trump.
Kilmar Abrego-Garcia, who was recently deported to El Salvador, was suspected of partaking in labor/human trafficking, according to a 2022 Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) report obtained by Fox News. The report also stated that “official law enforcement investigations” revealed that Abrego-Garcia was a member of the notorious gang MS-13, which President Donald Trump has designated as a terror organization.
According to the report, on December 1, 2022, a Tennessee Highway Patrol trooper stopped Garcia after observing him speeding and unable to maintain his lane. While the trooper noticed the eight individuals in the car, Abrego Garcia claimed he was driving from Houston, Texas to Temple Hills, Maryland via St. Louis, Missouri to perform construction work. However, the absence of luggage and the shared address raised red flags for potential human trafficking.
In an attempt to mislead the officer, Abrego Garcia reportedly pretended to have limited English proficiency, responding to inquiries with questions of his own. Despite these tactics, the officer chose to issue a warning for driving with an expired license rather than a citation for the traffic violations.
The HSI report further underscores that in October 2019, the Prince Georges County Police Gang Unit identified Abrego Garcia as a member of the notorious Mara Salvatrucha (MS-13) gang.
Additional court documents reveal a history of domestic violence, showing that Abrego Garcia repeatedly beat his wife. The DOJ announced this week that should Abrego Garcia attempt to enter the U.S. again, he will be detained and returned to El Salvador.
Meanwhile, Democrat Senator Chris Van Hollen made a trip to El Salvador, advocating on behalf of Abrego Garcia. Although initially denied entry to CECOT prison, Van Hollen eventually met with Abrego Garcia and relayed a message of love to his wife, Jennifer, despite the violent past of Abrego Garcia.
I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.
