Rep. Elise Stefanik joined “Sunday Morning Futures” with Maria Bartiromo to discuss President Trump’s bold America-first agenda. In a move showcasing his strategic acumen, President Trump recently withdrew Stefanik’s nomination for UN Ambassador to safeguard the slender Republican majority in the House.

Maria Bartiromo opened the conversation by asking, “Can you tell us a little about what President Trump is asking you to do?”

Stefanik emphasized the necessity of prioritizing Americans, stating, “This is very important that we put the American people first. Congress must pass this reconciliation package to cut taxes, unleash American energy independence, and secure the border.”

Recognizing the delicate balance in the House, Stefanik noted, “This is a historically slim House majority. I know that as a House leader.” She highlighted the importance of every single vote, adding, “The political realities are what they are and it’s very important that we have every single vote in the House.”

On her nomination for UN Ambassador, Stefanik expressed pride and underscored the importance of teamwork, saying, “I was proud to be the nominee for the United Nations. It is so important that we step up as a team in so many ways and I am doing that.”

Additionally, Bartiromo mentioned the resignation of Columbia University’s President, referencing a previous incident in December 2023, where Stefanik confronted Harvard President Claudine Gay about anti-Semitism alongside other university presidents.

Bartiromo asked, “She did resign. And you kicked this whole thing off. We had another President of Columbia resigning this weekend. What is your reaction?”

Stefanik responded, “We have seen six high-profile university Presidents resign, two of which are from Columbia because these university Presidents have failed to show moral, strong leadership and President Trump as he campaigned on, is holding them accountable.”

She vowed to continue her efforts, stating, “I’m going to continue to lead this effort in holding higher ed accountable, standing up to be good stewards of US taxpayer dollars.”
