In a pointed appearance on Fox Business Network’s “Varney & Co.,” Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) voiced strong doubts about the Democrats’ chances in the upcoming November midterm elections. The Tennessee senator attributed the Democrats’ strategy to “anti-Trump chaos” and a push for “socialism.”
“The only position that the Democrats seem to have is anti-Trump chaos, socialism, democratic socialism,” Hagerty said.
Hagerty emphasized that polls are not definitive indicators until voters have had the opportunity to evaluate candidates and their policies. “The polls don’t matter until [voters have] had a chance to put competitors into position and actually define them,” he noted.
Pointing to figures like New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani as symbolic of current Democratic leadership, Hagerty suggested that the public will awaken to their dissatisfaction with the current state of affairs. “When [Americans] see the leadership of the Democrat Party in the face of those like [New York City Mayor] Zohran Mamdani, I think the public will begin to wake up and realize they are not happy with the current situation,” he remarked.
“The media is quite different from reality,” Hagerty asserted, noting the stock market and tax returns as examples of positive indicators overlooked by mainstream outlets.
Hagerty confidently predicted a return to Republican prominence as the election draws nearer and voters are presented with clearer distinctions between the parties’ platforms. “As we get closer to [the general election], more definition comes into place with respect to the actual candidates, and the policies they maintain. You’re going to see the Republicans back in the position to say, ‘look, we’re delivering for the American people,’” he stated.
