In a recent appearance on CNN, left-wing commentator Van Jones highlighted a rising tide of frustration among Democrats, specifically targeting Chuck Schumer for his decision to vote in favor of keeping the government open. Jones described the reaction as unprecedented, stating he has “never seen this level of volcanic anger” within the party.

When you watch the clip below, two points become clear. Firstly, Jones seems to inflate the GOP’s success during Obama’s presidency, crediting Mitch McConnell with achievements that overlook Obama’s retort to the GOP: “I won.” Secondly, there’s a clear admission from Jones that this political battle for Democrats is driven by emotion—a possible root of their problem?

According to Townhall:

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) was seen as the only person to handle the reins of the Senate Democratic Caucus after Harry Reid died. Now, everyone is looking to vote this guy off the island. In less than a week, a man who was respected and revered among the rank-and-file on the Hill among congressional Democrats is being primed to end up like Robespierre for refusing to get into a shutdown fight with the Trump White House.

The New York liberal’s reasoning was clear: a shutdown would only aid Trump in slimming down the federal workforce. The continuing resolution was clean and opposing simply because of a dislike for Trump lacked sanity. Moreover, the Democrats lacked a coherent shutdown strategy. The internal discord is staggering—Nancy Pelosi even encouraged rebellion against Schumer before the Senate advanced the CR.

CNN’s Van Jones emphasized the severity of the backlash Schumer faces, describing it as a “volcanic eruption of outrage.”

“I’ve never seen this level of volcanic anger at a Democrat, ever,” he said.

Here’s the clip:

Democrats find themselves in a state of disarray, with their base teetering on the brink of exploding. If Van Jones thinks the anger is intense now, what will the atmosphere be like in six months?
