In a decisive move defending our great nation, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has arrested a Chinese national convicted of serving as an illegal agent for the Communist Chinese government within American borders.
On March 24, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) office in Newark apprehended Ming Xi Zhang, a 61-year-old resident of Montgomery Township, New Jersey, who was operating under the alias “Sushi John.” Zhang is currently in ICE custody as the deportation process advances.
Zhang initially entered the United States legally through Los Angeles International Airport in June 2000. However, his residency became unlawful after he violated the terms of his admission and was convicted of serious federal crimes.
On April 30, 2024, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey sentenced Zhang to three years of probation for acting as a covert agent for Communist China without notifying the Attorney General, as mandated by federal law. This conviction underscores the clandestine operations Zhang conducted for the Chinese Communist Party, sparking grave concerns about national security and foreign interference.
ICE Newark Field Office Director John Tsoukaris stated, “Any illegal alien conducting activities related to espionage, sabotage or export control against the United States is subject to deportation.”
In a further report from the New York Post, it is revealed:
Zhang met with Chinese security officials in the Bahamas in 2016 and delivered $35,000 to an unnamed individual in New Jersey. He also admitted to twice hosting a Chinese government agent at his Princeton home that fall.
Ming Xi Zhang is presently detained at the Elizabeth Detention Center awaiting immigration proceedings, according to a worker from his restaurant. The worker shared, “He’s doing good, I mean, given the circumstances. But yeah, he’s just kind of waiting… to get let out.”
The community around Zhang’s restaurant has shown strong support following his arrest, with the local townsfolk rallying around him and his establishment.
The worker added, “The whole town has been really supportive. Everyone’s been coming in, offering phone numbers, talking to his family…everyone’s really supportive.”
This arrest aligns with ICE’s intensified deportation efforts under President Donald Trump’s administration, which is focused on mass removals and heightened detention authority over illegal immigrants. In these challenging times, American patriots stand firm in protecting our homeland.
