Democrat strategist James Carville is not the political guru he would like to believe he is. In February, Carville gleefully predicted that President Trump’s support would “crater” in a mere 30 days, but the reality has proven him wrong. The bold declaration was made with confidence, yet recent numbers tell a different story.
A recent report from the Washington Examiner shows President Trump riding high with an approval rating of 52% according to Rasmussen Reports, as of Friday. This approval rating matches that of the previous day, showcasing stability rather than collapse.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows that 52% of Likely U.S. Voters approve of President Trump’s job performance. Forty-seven percent (47%) disapprove.
The figures reveal 37% of voters strongly approve of Trump’s performance, while 39% strongly disapprove, resulting in a Presidential Approval Index rating of -2. Check out the trends here.
These numbers indicate that President Trump is enjoying his highest approval rating since Carville’s speculative hope for a rapid decline. Speaking with Mediaite’s Dan Abrams, Carville insisted that Trump’s administration was on the brink of a “massive collapse.”
“I believe that this administration, in less than 30 days is in the midst of a massive collapse and particularly a collapse in public opinion,” Carville said.
“It’s collapsing right now,” he continued. “We’re in the midst of a collapse.”
He continued, claiming it was “the lowest approval, not even close, that any president has ever had at a comparable time.”
