Donald Trump is a fan of Vivek Ramaswamy.
He heaped high praise on him during a recent interview with Glenn Beck.
Former President Trump showered Vivek Ramaswamy with praise when asked in an interview if he’d considered the 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur for vice president.
Why it matters: It’s the most Trump has weighed in on Ramaswamy’s presidential candidacy, revealing his openness to a significantly younger and arguably more radical anti-Washington unknown.
Driving the news: Trump called Ramaswamy “smart” and “young” and “full of talent” when asked by conservative talk show host Glenn Beck what he thinks of a “Vice President Ramaswamy.”
“He’s a very, very, very intelligent person. He’s got good energy, and he could be some form of something,” Trump said of Ramaswamy. “I tell you, I think he’d be very good.”
Ramaswamy came under fire by the media over recent statements he made.
He also vowed to pardon Donald Trump if he was convicted.
Ramaswamy, the 38-year-old entrepreneur, was among the most prominent candidates on the debate stage last week in Milwaukee. He has gained significant media attention as his poll numbers have ticked up and as he has made various inflammatory and controversial statements.
He has said he would cede parts of Ukraine to Russia to end the war in Ukraine; he has suggested the U.S. should cut off support to Israel; and he has faced backlash for incendiary remarks about Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-Mass.), comparing the Black lawmaker to “modern grand wizards” of the Ku Klux Klan.
Ramaswamy has also effusively praised Trump, saying he would pardon the former president if he is convicted in any of his multiple upcoming trials and calling for other candidates to pledge the same.
