The crackdown comes one week after Pennsylvania State Police Trooper First Class Michael Pahira was struck and killed on Interstate 81 while conducting a commercial vehicle inspection.

Authorities say Michael Bon, a Haitian national, drove his tractor-trailer onto the shoulder and struck Pahira during the inspection on July 1.

Homeland Security officials confirmed that Bon was released into the country on parole by President Joe Biden in July 2024.

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey then issued him a commercial driver’s license.

Bon’s case is far from isolated.

In February, Bekzhan Beishekeev, an illegal immigrant from Kyrgyzstan with a Pennsylvania CDL, was accused of driving into oncoming traffic in Indiana and killing four people in a van.

In August 2025, Harjinder Singh, an illegal immigrant from India with a California CDL, was accused of making an illegal U-turn on the Florida Turnpike. The crash killed three people.

In October 2025, Jashanpreet Singh, an illegal immigrant from India who held a commercial license, was charged after a fiery crash on California’s I-10 killed three more.

The Democratic Party’s open border policy put these drivers on American roads.

The Biden administration paroled hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals into the country with minimal vetting. Blue-state governors then handed them commercial driver’s licenses.

The Trump administration’s coordinated weigh-station enforcement targets the consequences of that reckless policy.

ICE officers will work alongside state troopers to identify and detain noncitizen drivers operating commercial vehicles illegally.

The operation aims to remove drivers who pose a public safety threat — including those who can’t speak English well enough to communicate with law enforcement or read highway signs.

Trooper Pahira’s death was preventable. So were the deaths of the ten Americans killed in the crashes involving illegal immigrant truckers since August 2025.

The coordinated ICE deployment represents a return to enforcing immigration law and protecting American lives on the nation’s highways.

But here’s what they didn’t show you: little patriots running across the National Mall in red, white, and blue. Kids getting war paint from active-duty Marines. Families from Kentucky chanting “USA! USA!” as the World Cup played on giant screens.

The fair is doing exactly what President Trump intended when he signed the executive order in January 2025 — creating lifelong memories in the next generation of American patriots.

The Great American State Fair runs through July 10 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. — a 16-day celebration featuring over 150 exhibits from states, territories, government agencies, and businesses.

Daily programming includes youth livestock showcases, rodeos, live music, and educational speakers. Each day focuses on a specific theme “celebrating the people, traditions, innovations, and spirit that make America the greatest nation on Earth,” according to the Freedom 250 website.

“I can see all the states in one place and also what’s different in each state. The United States is so unique… I don’t think there’s any other country like it.”

That’s Manny Casanova from Marietta, Georgia, who traveled to D.C. with his family to experience the fair firsthand.

At the U.S. Treasury Department booth, patriots born after January 1, 2025, can open a Trump Account and receive a $1,000 contribution from the Treasury. Kids leave with bags that say “I’m a little investor… Every coin I save helps my future.”

The Department of War booth lets kids shake hands with active-duty service members from all five branches — Marine Corps, Navy, Army, Space Force, and Air Force. Face paint. Photos in uniform. A scavenger hunt connecting kids to 250 years of American history.

The Washington Post complained the crowds looked “sparse compared with past National Mall events.” The New Republic said it “lacked energy — and people.”

What they didn’t mention: spreading the fair across the vast National Mall gives families room to breathe. The grassy fields let kids run and do cartwheels without being packed shoulder-to-shoulder. And the “empty” photos? Taken on weekday afternoons when most people are at work.

Some state booths struggled with budget constraints. Kansas and South Dakota displayed facts on white canvas stretched across metal pipes. Maine opted out entirely, citing the estimated $100,000 cost to fund booths and staff.

But other states rose to the occasion with private sponsorships.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro pulled out at the last minute, claiming “there weren’t any businesses from the state interested in being featured.” Republican Sen. Dave McCormick and Democrat Sen. John Fetterman stepped in within days, gathering private sponsors to fund the Keystone State’s booth — now filled with historic American flags.

Florida consistently drew the longest lines all week. The Sunshine State gives out free manatee and alligator stuffed animals. Indiana built mini-golf courses showcasing state landmarks. Nebraska offers a Union Pacific train simulator.

Many visitors said Florida had the best booth at the entire fair.

On the east side of the mall, daily rodeos bring the American West to historic soil. Bull riding. Horse bucking. Cow herding. After every show, cowboys and cowgirls walk to the fences so kids can pet the animals and take pictures.

“The story of the cowboy is the story of America. As our nation celebrates 250 years of freedom, innovation, and perseverance, there is no better place than the National Mall to honor the men and women whose grit, determination, and spirit helped build the American West.”

That’s Binion Cervi of Cervi Rodeo Company, the outfit behind the fair’s rodeo programming.

Blue-state governors who opted out due to Trump Derangement Syndrome missed a vital opportunity. They could have honored America. They could have done something positive for the next generation.

Instead, they let partisan politics stand in the way of creating little patriots who will carry the torch for the next 250 years.

The fair runs through July 10. Every volunteer, every booth, every rodeo cowboy leaves kids with one message: pursue your own American Dream.

The Freedom Fuel Network will lower prices at 25 stations across the Greater Philadelphia Area in celebration of the historic milestone.

“As we approach America’s 250th Birthday, I am pleased to announce that a VERY smart Retailer, located throughout the Northeast, is stepping up, and wishing the People of Philadelphia a ‘Happy Birthday!’ On July 3rd, the Freedom Fuel Network will be lowering gas prices at 25 ‘FREEDOM FUEL’ Stations across the Greater Philadelphia Area.”

Trump made the announcement Wednesday on Truth Social, calling out the retailer for taking the lead and urging others to follow.

“This Retailer is taking the lead, and others should follow. They are doing this because they love the U.S.A.,” Trump wrote.

The president framed the move as a direct result of his energy policies — oil prices are plummeting and gas prices are finally catching up.

“Just as I promised, Oil Prices are plummeting FAST, and Gas Prices at the pump are dropping too, but not as fast as they should be,” Trump said.

He added that America has never been stronger and that gas prices will soon return to the record lows Americans enjoyed before the Iran conflict.

The announcement came days after Trump told gasoline retailers to drop prices immediately or face consequences. Oil had fallen to $68 a barrel and heading lower — yet pump prices weren’t reflecting the drop fast enough.

“Gasoline Retailers must get their Prices down, IMMEDIATELY! They’re too high considering that Oil is now at $68 a Barrel, and heading south,” Trump posted Sunday.

“There will be no gauging [gouging], which is totally illegal. If Retailers don’t do this, big problems lie ahead! Start targeting around the $2.50 a Gallon number.”

Trump also called out California’s gas taxes, warning the state that the federal government won’t tolerate tax rates higher than the product itself.

Gas prices had spiked to $4.54 a gallon nationwide in early May during the height of the Iran crisis. Since the end of the conflict and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, prices have dropped 60 cents.

Philadelphia holds special significance for the 250th celebration — it’s the birthplace of the Declaration of Independence and a state Trump won in the 2024 election.

“We are proud to celebrate America’s 250th Birthday in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the Birthplace of our very special, one-of-a-kind Declaration of Independence, and where I won BIG in the Presidential Election!” Trump wrote.

The Republican senator unveiled Pennsylvania’s booth at the Great American State Fair in Washington, D.C., after working across the aisle with Sen. John Fetterman to make it happen.

Shapiro had claimed no Pennsylvania businesses wanted to participate in the festival celebrating all 50 states for the nation’s semiquincentennial.

McCormick and Fetterman proved him wrong.

“Pennsylvania is where America’s story began, and there was no way we were going to let the Commonwealth go unrepresented during our Nation’s 250th birthday celebration.”

The bipartisan push overruled the Democratic governor’s boycott entirely. The Keystone State now has full representation at the fair — businesses, exhibits, and all.

Shapiro’s office had initially declined to participate, leaving one of the nation’s most historic states absent from the national celebration. McCormick and Fetterman stepped in to organize the booth themselves.

Pennsylvania played a founding role in American history — the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, Valley Forge. The state’s absence from the 250th anniversary celebration would have been glaring.

Not anymore. The booth is open, and Pennsylvania is represented.

Speaking to reporters at Pennsylvania’s Reading Regional Airport, Trump dismissed Iranian social media accounts claiming there were no scheduled IAEA inspections as flat-out lies.

“They’re wrong, they’re wrong, they’re wrong, they know they’re wrong. They told us inside and we have it down, 100% inspections. And if they were right, I’d cancel the meetings right now.”

The president confirmed that International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors will enter Iran to verify agreed-upon restrictions on the regime’s nuclear program — despite Tehran’s online propaganda campaign suggesting otherwise.

Trump made clear there’s no rush to deploy the inspectors, but the deal stands: Iran agreed to 100% inspections, and Trump has the receipts.

The regime’s latest social media stunt follows a pattern of broken promises and deception. Trump’s message: try lying again, and the whole deal gets scrapped.

Iran is negotiating from a position of total weakness — and the mullahs know it.

The visit signals a major win for Pennsylvania manufacturing and the American workers Trump has championed since taking office.

“President Trump will travel to Macungie, Pennsylvania on Tuesday to stand with the American workers he has fought for since Day One. Under the President’s leadership, key domestic industries are being revitalized, historic investments are pouring back into communities like Macungie, and families across the country are securing new, high-paying jobs.”

The White House official emphasized the payoff for voters who backed Trump.

“Pennsylvanians placed their trust in President Trump, and he has delivered for them,” the official said.

Lehigh Valley’s Mack truck plant represents exactly the kind of manufacturing revival Trump promised on the campaign trail — bringing production back to American soil and high-paying jobs back to communities that had watched factories close for decades.

Trump has a history with Mack trucks. In March 2017, he famously climbed into the cab of a Mack truck parked on the White House lawn and pretended to drive it ahead of a meeting with trucking CEOs to discuss his healthcare proposals.

The Tuesday visit comes as Trump returns from the international stage to focus on domestic wins — jobs, manufacturing, and keeping promises to the heartland voters who put him in office.

Pennsylvania’s Office of Open Records denied a DCNF records request Wednesday for 2025 migrant case lists, accepting Krasner’s claim that his immigration counsel “no longer keeps such lists.”

For years, Krasner’s office disclosed these records under state law. Now they won’t.

“Based on the evidence provided, [Krasner’s office] has met its burden of proving that records responsive to the Request do not exist within its possession, custody or control.”

Previous records requests revealed Krasner’s former Immigration Counsel Caleb Arnold giving free consultations to migrants charged with murder, rape and other violent offenses, the DCNF previously reported.

Krasner’s current immigration counsel, Stefanie Costa, allegedly cannot comply with the latest request because her “recordkeeping practices differ from those employed previously,” according to Krasner’s April response.

Krasner created the immigration counsel position in 2018 to help foreign defendants avoid convictions that bring immigration consequences. The office has reviewed more than 400 cases since then.

The GOP-led House Judiciary Committee demanded documents on all immigration counsel cases since 2018 in a May 4 letter. Republican Reps. Jim Jordan of Ohio and Tom McClintock of California accused Krasner’s office of “openly favoring dangerous foreign nationals over U.S. citizens.”

“Even in cases involving murder or crimes against minors, a prosecutor in your office may still consider a criminal alien’s potential deportation or other immigration consequences in making prosecution decisions.”

Krasner called the congressional letter an “untruthful, authoritarian propaganda campaign” in a May 13 statement, defending “non-violent, hard working immigrants who contribute to American society.”

Krasner’s office did not respond to the DCNF’s request for comment.

The Pennsylvania Democrat issued the challenge Saturday on Fox News Channel’s “Saturday in America,” addressing Platner by his Kik handle directly.

“P-Hustle, here’s a great chance. You can just prove that all these people that you’re dropping those d–k pics and saying these things to were over 18. I will wear a suit every day in the Senate.”

Fetterman, appearing in his trademark black hoodie, pressed Platner to release the full record of his Kik conversations.

“You can set the record clear and provide all of those texts and all of those conversations that you were having as a newlywed just before you were going to run for the Senate,” Fetterman said, then added a one-word demand: “Transparency.”

Kik is an anonymous messaging app that has faced scrutiny over underage users.

Platner, a Marine Corps veteran backed by Sen. Bernie Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, has admitted having an active Kik account while newly married. He has denied wrongdoing and has not been accused of any unlawful conduct involving minors.

The scandal erupted last month when The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times reported that Platner’s wife, Amy Gertner, told campaign staff in August 2025 about sexually explicit texts she had discovered between her husband and other women earlier in their marriage.

Genevieve McDonald, the campaign’s former political director, told The Associated Press that Platner had been “sexting multiple women while married” and that aides treated the matter as a potential vulnerability before deciding it was private.

The New York Times then reported claims by ex-girlfriend Lyndsey Fifield, a former Republican operative who dated Platner from 2013 to 2015, alleging he twisted her arm behind her back and shoved her into a bedroom, holding the door shut until she was “calm.”

Platner denied that account on MSNBC, calling Fifield’s story false. He has called the broader reporting “journalistic malpractice.”

CNN independently verified that a Kik account under the username “phustle0331,” showing a shirtless man in a towel, appears to belong to Platner. His campaign said he had deleted the app from his phone but had not deactivated the account.

The stakes are immediate: Maine’s Democratic primary is June 9, and Platner holds a wide lead after Maine Gov. Janet Mills suspended active campaigning.

Dean told CNN Friday that Platner had “disqualified himself” from the race as allegations about his conduct continued mounting. “I think it’s so distressing all of the stories that are coming out, and they’re more and more it seems by the hour,” Dean said.

“He has disqualified himself in my eyes. He is not qualified to be a representative, a senator.”

Dean stopped short of calling on Platner to quit the race, but her statement marks another defection in what has become a full-scale Democratic civil war over the Maine Senate hopeful.

Platner has refused to step aside despite the pressure. His party remains split — some Democrats are distancing themselves while others continue backing him, according to The Hill.

California Rep. Ro Khanna defended the candidate in a statement to NBC News. “The behavior described in the New York Times story was wrong and toxic,” Khanna said. “Graham has acknowledged that and sought redemption.”

The candidate — an oyster farmer and combat veteran — has denied the most serious claims. Former girlfriend Lyndsey Fifield told The New York Times that Platner allegedly grabbed her hard enough to leave bruises and once twisted her arm behind her back, according to Daily Caller reporting.

Platner called the accounts false and politically driven. He has also faced earlier scrutiny over sexually explicit texts to married women, a skull tattoo identified as a Nazi symbol, and old Reddit posts he has since apologized for.

The timing carries weight. Maine’s Democratic primary falls Tuesday.

Gov. Janet Mills suspended active campaigning but stays on the ballot, and her votes will still count, according to Fox News.

A Pennsylvania man is facing a federal indictment in which he is accused of voting in both Pennsylvania and Florida during the 2020 presidential election. He is also accused of voting twice in Pennsylvania during the 2022 midterm elections.

The U.S. attorney’s office in Philadelphia announced on August 9 that it had filed five federal charges against 62-year-old Philip C. Pulley of Huntingdon Valley. According to the indictment, Pulley allegedly violated federal election law by falsely registering to vote, voting in multiple locations and engaging in election fraud.

Pulley is accused of using a false Philadelphia address and social security in 2020 number when he registered in Philadelphia while he was already registered in nearby Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, and Broward County, Florida. During that year, he requested a mail-in ballot in Philadelphia and ultimately voted in both Montgomery County and Broward County, prosecutors allege.

Elsewhere in the indictment, Pulley is accused of voting in both Montgomery County and Philadelphia during the pivotal 2022 midterm elections, which featured a gubernatorial race and a U.S. Senate race.

Federal prosecutors allege that Pulley has a lengthy history of using his Huntingdon Valley address to vote from 2005 through last year. Broward County records indicate that he registered as a Republican in 2018 in Lighthouse Point, Florida, an address he has voted from multiple times.

Pennsylvania voting records indicate Pulley was registered as a Republican in Montgomery County from the 1990s until he changed it to the Democratic Party last year. A few years prior, in February 2020, he registered as a Democrat in Philadelphia — where he voted in general elections in 2021, 2022 and 2023, the records show, according to a report from the Associated Press.

If convicted, on each count, Pulley faces a maximum possible sentence of five years of imprisonment, three years of supervised release, a $10,000 to 250,000 fine, and a $100 special assessment.
