Pro-Israel research group Canary Mission released the video Monday in an exclusive thread on X. The clip came from a March fundraiser called “Choose Your Fighter,” hosted by Progressive Victory to rally support for progressives opposed to the Iran conflict.

The speaker was left-wing podcaster Kyle Kulinski.

Kulinski argued the United States and Israel were building a “fourth Reich” before turning to Tehran’s regional proxies.

“If Iran’s off the table as a regional power, that means Hezbollah can’t be funded. Hamas can’t be funded. The Houthis can’t be funded.”

He also claimed U.S. and Israeli officials “are the extremists” and compared them to Adolf Hitler and Mussolini.

Attendees included Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA) and former Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), along with Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.

Also flagged were two DSA congressional hopefuls: Darializa Avila Chevalier and Melat Kiros.

Conservative commentator Guy Benson wrote that the funding line “is said as a lament.”

Progressive Victory deputy executive director Benjamin Gilbert-Lif told Fox News the group stands by Kulinski’s comments, insisting they reflect “the views of our community.”

A spokesperson for Khanna claimed the congressman “joined for 5 minutes to speak and left” and “was not on at the time these remarks were made,” adding that he “obviously disagrees” with them.

The rally surfaced as the DSA slate expands ahead of November.

Kiros unseated 15-term Rep. Diana DeGette in her primary. Avila Chevalier co-founded a group calling for the “total eradication of Western civilization.”

Both are now running for Congress with DSA backing.

After Democratic Socialists of America-backed challengers toppled longtime Democratic incumbents in New York City and Denver, the far-left movement is now targeting Missouri and Michigan primaries on August 4.

Former Rep. Cori Bush, who lost her St. Louis seat in 2024, posted on social media hours after socialist candidate Melat Kiros ousted 15-term Rep. Diana DeGette in Colorado’s June primary: “On August 4th, St. Louis will do the same.”

The DSA, Justice Democrats, and Working Families Party have now backed 39 candidates — 20 challengers and 19 incumbents — heading into the 2026 midterms. Three major upset victories in deep-blue districts have emboldened progressives who see a national opening to reshape the Democratic Party from within.

The question: will the message on Medicare-for-all, the Green New Deal, higher taxes on the wealthy, and abolishing ICE resonate in November when Republicans are on the ballot?

The Missouri and Michigan Battlegrounds

Bush is running to reclaim her seat in Missouri’s St. Louis-anchored 1st Congressional District. She lost the seat in 2024 after serving one term.

In Michigan — which also holds its primary August 4 — the DSA is training firepower on multiple races in a state that will help determine control of the House.

One week later, Wisconsin holds its August 11 primary. DSA-backed state Rep. Francesca Hong is rising in a crowded field to succeed retiring Democratic Gov. Tony Evers.

“It’s a great day to be a democratic socialist,” Hong posted on X after the New York City victories. “Wisconsin is next!”

The New York Shockwaves

Three far-left candidates heavily supported by socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani pulled off stunning upsets in the June primary.

Darializa Avila Chevalier, a DSA member also backed by Justice Democrats, ousted incumbent Democratic Rep. Adriano Espaillat, chair of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, in New York’s 13th District.

The community organizer — who created controversy with past comments and anti-Israel rhetoric — is now the overwhelming favorite in the Democrat-dominated district covering northern Manhattan and the Bronx.

Brad Lander, the former New York City comptroller supported by Mamdani and the Working Families Party, ousted incumbent Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman in the 10th District. Lander is the clear favorite in the deep-blue district covering lower Manhattan and northwestern Brooklyn.

Claire Valdez, a state lawmaker endorsed by the DSA, won the primary to succeed retiring Rep. Nydia Velázquez in a district spanning parts of Brooklyn and Queens. Valdez topped Velázquez-backed Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso.

The Denver Upset That Started It All

Melat Kiros, a 29-year-old attorney and first-time candidate backed by the DSA, Justice Democrats, and Working Families Party, toppled 15-term Democratic Rep. Diana DeGette in Colorado’s June primary.

DeGette had represented Denver’s 1st Congressional District for 30 years. Kiros is now on a glide path to Washington in the Democrat-dominated district.

During the primary, Kiros faced scrutiny over past comments suggesting American foreign policy made the 9/11 terror attacks “inevitable.”

The Squad Expands

Among the 19 far-left incumbents seeking re-election, the most visible is Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who burst onto the national stage eight years ago by ousting then-House Democratic Caucus Chairman Joe Crowley.

The four-term progressive from New York City — best known by her acronym AOC — is the most visible member of the Squad. She is backed by the DSA, Justice Democrats, and Working Families Party.

Ocasio-Cortez is eyeing a potential 2028 White House bid or a possible challenge to longtime Democratic Senate Leader Chuck Schumer.

Other Squad members seeking re-election include Reps. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts, and Rashida Tlaib of Michigan — all backed by Justice Democrats and frequently targeted by President Trump.

The California Intra-Party Fights

Several far-left challengers are taking on Democratic incumbents in California’s nonpartisan primary system, where the top two finishers advance regardless of party.

Mai Vang, a Sacramento city councilor backed by Working Families Party and Justice Democrats, slightly edged Democratic Rep. Doris Matsui in the June primary. The two will face off again in November for the solidly blue seat.

Angela Gonzales-Torres, backed by Justice Democrats and Working Families Party, advanced to the general election and is now facing incumbent Democratic Rep. Jimmy Gomez in the Los Angeles-anchored 34th District.

Connie Chan, a San Francisco Board of Supervisors member endorsed by Working Families Party, is running to succeed retiring former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She’ll face state Sen. Scott Wiener in November in the heavily blue district.

The Swing-District Gambles

Not all far-left candidates are running in safe blue seats. Several Working Families Party-backed candidates are challenging Republicans in swing districts that will determine House control.

Bob Brooks, a retired firefighter handpicked by Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro, won the May primary in Pennsylvania’s 7th District. He’s challenging incumbent GOP Rep. Ryan Mackenzie in a race among two or three dozen that will decide the House majority.

Randy Villegas, a school board trustee backed by Working Families Party, came in second to Republican Rep. David Valadao in California’s June primary and advanced to the general election in the crucial swing district.

The Controversial Picks

Some far-left nominees carry baggage heading into November.

Adam Hamawy, a plastic surgeon and former U.S. Army combat surgeon backed by Justice Democrats, won the New Jersey primary for the 12th District. Hamawy grabbed national attention in 2024 as part of a volunteer medical team in Gaza unable to leave after Israel closed border crossings during its war with Hamas.

During the primary campaign, Hamawy’s past ties to a convicted terrorist who was convicted of seditious conspiracy linked to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing resurfaced, according to Fox News reporting.

Rep. LaMonica McIver, a Working Families Party-backed lawmaker representing northern New Jersey, drew national attention last year when she was among Democrats attempting a congressional oversight visit to an ICE facility in Newark. McIver was later indicted by a grand jury for “forcibly impeding and interfering with federal officers” during the visit. She has disputed the charges as political.

The November Test

The real verdict comes in November when these far-left candidates face Republican opposition and discover whether their message resonates beyond deep-blue primaries.

President Trump and Vice President JD Vance have already issued sharp warnings about the socialist surge within the Democratic Party.

Chief congressional correspondent Chad Pergram reported the Kiros victory in Denver marked the 27th progressive primary victory this cycle — a number that could grow significantly with Missouri, Michigan, and Wisconsin primaries still ahead.

U.S. Rep. Cori Bush (D-MS) — who has garnered a reputation as one of the most far-left members of Congress — has been defeated by primary challenger Wesley Bell.

The result falls in line with weeks of polling data, which found St. Louis prosecutor Wesley Bell with a commanding lead over the “Squad” Democrat. A recent poll from the Democratic Majority for Israel, DMFI PAC, found Bell leading by six-percentage points.

The race was ultimately called with roughly 13 percent of the vote in shortly after 10 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday. Bell had a commanding lead at the time of the race call.

Bush, like a number of her progressive colleagues, had been the target of a massive spending campaign due to her opposition to the war in Gaza.

She is also facing a number of legal issues that caused her campaign to take a hit. In January, the Missouri Democrat became the subject of a federal investigation due to alleged misuse of Congressional funds.

Between 2020 and 2022, Rep. Bush spent approximately $500,000 on security detail. Her “Defund the Police” mantra opened her up to criticism of accepting security while calling for the dismantling of urban police departments around the nation. By February 2023, that figure had grown to more than $627,000, according to the New York Post.

The Daily Mail added that the DOJ has subpoenaed the House Sergeant at Arms for records relating to the misuse of congressional funds for security purposes. As of today, Rep. Bush has spent more than three-quarters of a million dollars in taxpayer funds on security line items for her office.

Bush’s loss comes just week after another “Squad” Democrat suffered a crushing primary defeat in U.S. Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY). Bowman was unable to survive a challenge from primary opponent George Latimer, who heavily focused on the congressman’s opposition to Israel and the war in Gaza.

The race ended up being one of the most expensive in U.S. history with more than $25 million spent in total. It also divided the Democratic Party, as Bowman received endorsements from fellow progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Senator Bernie Sanders (D-VT). Latimer received endorsements from a number of prominent Democrats himself, including Hillary Clinton.

Bowman was ultimately defeated by a wide margin.

Rep. Omar was also the target of a fierce primary campaign, though she was ultimately able to hang on.

The infamous “Squad” is down another member Wednesday morning after Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MN) lost her Democratic primary. In a concession speech free of contrition or self-reflection, the far-left progressive instead appeared to issue a veiled threat against voters who gave her the boot and fair-weather friends who she thinks didn’t do enough in her hour of need.

Microphone in hand, Bush stormed back and forth across a stage at an Election night rally with supporters late Tuesday night. There, she promised her critics would finally see “the other Cori,” claiming her loss has only “radicalized” her. “Let’s be clear! Let’s be clear!” the St. Louis Democrat shouted as she grabbed the hands of fans. “Let’s talk about what it really is. Because see, now I don’t have to worry about some strings that I have attached, that as much as I love my job, but all they did was radicalize me, so now they gonna be afraid!” The audience of left-wing activists erupted in cheers. “They’re going to see this other Cori, this other side,” she continued.

Bush’s rejection by voters in her deep-blue district was a circular end to her career in elected office. She rose to prominence locally following some of the early Black Lives Matter protests in 2014, leveraging her newfound street cred into a successful run for Congress predicated on the 2020 death of George Floyd. Bush was defeated by Wesley Bell, a pragmatic progressive and former prosecutor who promised a fresh approach to lawmaking without the self-aggrandizing stances of the “Squad.” His campaign was buttressed by over $15 million in spending by AIPAC and pro-Israel forces determined to unseat a lawmaker who has been equivocal about her opposition to Hamas. At one point, she feigned knowledge about whether Hamas qualified as a terrorist organization, forcing a spokesperson to later walk back her remarks.

A number of other self-inflicted wounds exacerbated her political exposure. In January, news surfaced of a Justice Department criminal investigation into Bush’s six-figure expenditures to a security officer with no credentials or formal job description and who had a history of making severely antisemitic statements. She later married another bodyguard at a private ceremony. She became known for drawing headlines more than support for bills, struggling to explain her plans for leveling the federal tax code and conflating Memorial Day with Veterans Day in a social media post that was later deleted.

Other Squad members, including Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) do not face competitive elections this cycle. However, the loss of two key allies may force the progressive caucus to retreat and regroup around a new strategy that may focus more on results and less on rhetoric.

The headaches plaguing “Squad” Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MN) aren’t going away following her stinging defeat by a progressive primary challenger on Tuesday.

Back in 2015, the Florida Times-Union answered a question from one reader who asked if Bush was entitled to a congressional pension after serving just two years in the U.S. House. Citing FactCheck.org, the outlet reported that no member of Congress is entitled to full pension benefits, whether they serve one two-year term or several. According to a June 13th, 2015 report by the Congressional Research Office: “Members of Congress are eligible for a pension at the age of 62 if they have completed at least five years of service. Members are eligible for a pension at age 50 if they have completed 20 years of service, or at any age after completing 25 years of service. The amount of the pension depends on years of service and the average of the highest three years of salary. By law, the starting amount of a member’s retirement annuity may not exceed 80 percent of his or her final salary.”

Even if Rep. Bush had escaped defeat this year, she would have had to win election to a third two-year term in order to achieve any level of pension benefits from taxpayers. As a result, the onetime Black Lives Matter activist who rose to prominence for her street-level activism is now back out on the streets where her career began. In the case of U.S. senators, however, a single, full six-year term allows any member to collect 9% of their most recent salary. Citing the case of former Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC) who lost her reelection in 2015, the outlet said she would be entitled to about $16,000 in annual benefits based on her $174,000 annual salary.

As a member of the House, Rep. Bush made the same amount and will surely struggle to find the same level of compensation in the private sector. Meanwhile, other controversies stemming from her brief time in office will continue. In January, the Department of Justice launched a criminal probe of money her congressional office spent hiring a bodyguard without formal training or a job description; the individual, who has a history of making blatant antisemitic statements, was paid a six-figure sum for performing several years of work protecting her from perceived threats. Another element of the investigation may center on Bush’s marrying another bodyguard who was in her entourage.

The Minnesota Democrat on Tuesday ripped the voters of her district for canning her, threatening to unleash the “other Cori” and saying the loss has only “radicalized” her. Whether those words become actions remains to be seen, but her past statements suggest she could be an incendiary foe of Israel back home. Following the October 7th, 2023 deadly attack by Hamas, Rep. Bush feigned knowledge about whether she believed the Islamist group qualified as a terrorist organization, forcing a spokesperson to later walk back her remarks.

With just over 24 hours to go before the polls close, another “Squad” member is badly underwater in the latest polling and sits in serious jeopardy of losing her Democratic primary.

The 2024 election cycle has been unkind to members of the informal far-left group of Democratic lawmakers who prioritize showmanship and rhetoric over service and results. In June, New York Congressman Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) lost his primary to a pro-Israel Westchester native after voters grew tired of his pro-Palestinian grandstanding and photo ops with progressive Jewish leaders who, it turns out, never liked him very much. The story may repeat itself this week in Missouri’s 1st District this week where Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) is badly trailing progressive prosecutor Wesley Bell.

The Jewish Insider, which has closely chronicled the rise and fall of anti-Israel Squad members in Congress, reported on a poll by the political arm of the Democratic Majority for Israel, DMFI PAC, showing Bell leading Bush 48%-42%, well outside the margin of error and putting Bush on track to lose her reelection on Tuesday. If the result holds, she would not fare as poorly as Bowman who lost by a wide margin of 58.4% to 41.6%. The Bell campaign is taking the results in stride while taking nothing for granted.

“Wesley is finishing the last few days of this primary campaign the way he’s been running the whole time: talking with people, hearing their concerns and sharing his vision for better representation for this district,” Anjan Mukherjee, a spokesperson for the Bell campaign, said in a statement to Jewish Insider on Thursday. “That’s how he was elected as a city councilman and county prosecutor, and it’s why he will be the next member of Congress from MO-01.”

A large coalition of progressive activists, from labor unions to Black Lives Matter chapters, have endorsed Bell over Bush, who has been one of the least productive lawmakers in the 118th Congress. She may have escaped criticism of that, however, were it not for a series of politically sensitive scandals that tainted her image as an outsider. She struggled to describe the tax code after announcing her reelection campaign, and in January the Justice Department quietly launched an investigation into her hiring of a bodyguard with no credentials who was paid more than $100,000 over two years. The guard, Nathaniel Davis, has a history of making virulent antisemitic statements. Bush and Cortney Merritts, another bodyguard, tied the knot in a private ceremony in February 2023. Earlier this month the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, her hometown paper, endorsed Bell.

Some of the House Democratic leadership has not yet turned their back on Bush. On Friday House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-MA) campaigned with the Missouri Democrat on Friday, though Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) has kept his powder dry in the feud.

Jewish advocates in the district are hopeful they can repeat the success felt by Rep. Bowman’s defeat earlier this summer. Benjamin Singer, CEO of the Jewish community organization St. Louis Votes, said he has anticipated “record turnout among Jewish St. Louisans, in part due to our grassroots organizing, door-knocking, phone banking and work with synagogues and other community institutions.”

“People are incredibly worried and upset by the skyrocketing antisemitism across our country,” he said, noting that his group is not telling voters who to support. “The Jewish people are simply fighting for our right to survive.” State Rep. Stacey Newman, who is leading outreach efforts for the Bell campaign, said antisemitic protests have broken out sporadically in front of the campaign’s headquarters, further emboldening his supporters to feel good about Election Day and work into the evening. “I’ve never worked on a race where I had to think about mine and my staff’s safety every day or had to check in with a security advisor frequently,” Newman said. But, she added, “it only seems to motivate volunteers to keep showing up.”

Exactly one month after “Squad” Congressman Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) lost his primary to a progressive, pro-Israel challenger, another lawmaker in the far-left network is on track for her own landslide loss — and the hometown paper is telling her to throw in the towel.

A poll released on July 14th showed Congresswoman Cori Bush (D-MO) down a stunning 23 points against her progressive challenger Wesley Bell. Now, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch has released an editorial calling for her time in office to come to an end and backing Bell, citing his promises to focus on block-and-tackle matters like effective constituent services and passing laws. Previous analyses show Rep. Bush to be among the least productive lawmakers in Congress. The editorial cited the Squad’s intense focus on winning headlines instead of passing bills, according to The Hill.

“Missouri’s First Congressional District, encompassing St. Louis city and northern St. Louis County, is our region’s most direct connection to the federal government’s seat of power,” the editorial board said in a piece published Thursday. “For the past four years, the district has been in the hands of U.S. Rep. Cori Bush, a Democrat who has generally appeared less interested in working that system for the good of her constituents than attacking it on behalf of a small, hard-left klatch of lawmakers — ‘the Squad’ — who are good at getting headlines but bad at actually accomplishing anything,” the board continued.

Rep. Bush’s decline in the polls is even more remarkable considering the last survey, released in June, showed her down just 1% against the former prosecutor. Bell hasn’t separated himself from Bush on the Israel-Hamas war and remains a vocal opponent of atrocities committed during the conflict, but the Post-Dispatch concludes he is the best “viable alternative” to a congresswoman who doesn’t have much to show after two years in office.

“Democratic primary voters in the overwhelmingly Democratic district weren’t offered a viable alternative to Bush two years ago,” the Post-Dispatch editorial board said in their Thursday piece. “This year, they have a terrific one. We enthusiastically endorse Wesley Bell for the Democratic nomination to this seat in the Aug. 6 primaries.”

The Post-Dispatch’s editorial board said “Bush’s almost immediate induction into the small clique of progressive House rabble-rousers positioned her as a darling of fringe-left activists — and thus irrelevant to what actually happens in Washington. Bush voted against the Biden administration’s landmark infrastructure package — one of only six House Democrats to do so — to protest the fact that a separate social-spending package was stalled,” the board continued. “That myopic stance helps explain why labor interests that previously backed Bush have moved to Bell.”

The Minnesota native has played footsie with Republican politics since retiring in 2022 and left open the possibility of her own run for office. She chaired the unsuccessful campaign of her homestate Republican gubernatorial candidate Kendall Qualls that year and took on an increased surrogate role following an attempt to branch out on her own during a controversial 2021 interview with the ultra-liberal ABC program “The View.”

Appearing alongside far-left hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, and others, Tafoya blasted critical race theory and attempted to defend vaccine opponents, throwing the liberal ladies into a full-blown meltdown. “I just want to give the benefit of the doubt to some people that there are two sides to the story. Another progressive member of the “Squad” in Congress is in a precarious position, potentially facing a significant defeat in her upcoming primary.

Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) is trailing St. Louis prosecuting attorney Wesley Bell by a considerable margin, according to a new poll. The survey, conducted by McLaughlin & Associates for the CCA Action Fund, shows Bush with 33% support among likely voters in Missouri’s 1st Congressional District Democratic Primary on August 6. In contrast, Bell leads with 56% support.

11% of respondents are either undecided or supporting lesser-known candidates Ron Harshaw and Maria Chappelle-Nadal according to The New York Post.

The primary race is shaping up to be a critical test for Bush, whose tenure in Congress has been marked by her outspoken progressive positions and nonsensical rants. Despite her national prominence as part of the “Squad,” which includes Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Bush appears to be struggling to maintain local support.

According to the survey, the two-term incumbent Bush has a 50% favorability rating among registered Democrats, with 47% viewing her unfavorably. 51% of Democrats disapprove of her job performance, compared to 46% who approve.

Compared to Bush, Bell enjoys a favorable rating of 70% among respondents, with only 18% viewing him unfavorably. Pollsters pointed out that Bush’s high negative ratings among her Democratic peers present a significant challenge for her. The survey, carried out from June 28 to July 1, involved 300 likely Democratic voters through phone interviews and text messages. The margin of error for this survey is plus or minus 5.7 percentage points according to The Post.

Pastor Marc Little, spokesman for the anti-Bush CCA Action Fund, a Super PAC, criticized Cori Bush, saying, “Cori Bush has wasted her time in Congress to focus on her own fame in ‘The Squad’—while her constituents suffer. This poll proves St. Louis wants a Representative who will champion our community and its prosperity and safety, and who will defend America—not a Cori Bush who wants to tear it all down.”

Bush has come under fire for recent statements regarding the Israel-Hamas conflict. Bush, aligning with her progressive stance, has been vocal in her criticism of Israel’s actions in Gaza, calling for an end to what she described as the oppression of Palestinians. She has also advocated for the U.S. to halt military aid to Israel, arguing that it supports human rights violations.

Trends haven’t faired well for ‘The Squad’ as of late.

Last month, Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) — one of the most far-left representatives in Congress and a member of the Progressive Caucus — lost his primary election to a moderate challenger. George Latimer, a Westchester County executive, defeated Bowman after a contentious primary race that was widely viewed as a fight between ideological factions of the Democratic Party.

Bowman had aligned himself with the “ceasefire now” movement, which called for the end to hostilities in the Gaza Strip and accused Israel of being complicit in genocide. Millions of dollars poured into the race from both inside and outside the district, making it the most expensive House primary in history. According to an analysis from ad tracking firm AdImpact, more than $25 million was spent overall. Roughly $15 million came from the United Democracy Project, a super PAC linked to the powerful American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), which backed Latimer.

The survey of 400 likely voters between June 18th and 22nd carries a 4.9% margin of error, indicating Bush’s lead is far from certain. Wesley Bell, a progressive prosecutor for St. Louis County, has seen resonance with a promise to fight for liberal priorities without the drama and baggage carried by Bush.

The “Squad” member’s hold on the seat has been firm since she defeated Rep. William Lacy Clay (D-MO) in 2020 to win her first term. However, she won by less than 3% or 5,000 votes and ironically finds herself on the opposite side of the same scenario that propelled her to victory — an unpopular Democratic incumbent challenged by a pugnacious first-time candidate.

Central to the “Squad” identity has been group members’ pursuit of high-profile legislation and headlines without much in the way of bills passed or missions accomplished. She is tied for the lowest Missouri congressperson to see their bills out of committee, according to GovTrack. At the same time, a number of scandalous headlines have percolated during her tenure: the Department of Justice has quietly launched an investigation into Bush’s antisemitic bodyguard and whether he performed any actual work despite being paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by her official office. She has made plenty of avoidable errors as well, confusing Memorial Day with Veterans Day in a social media post, failing to understand the tax code when asked, and offering unsolicited opinions on race about selective criminal matters.

In a sign of how desperate the “Squad” has become to avoid consequences for their behavior, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) canceled her appearance at an Election Day rally with Bowman, underscoring how perilous it has become to chase progressive celebrity status by over-delivering on basic constituent services.

House Democrats were irate at Bowman and his colleagues for putting the party’s chances of a majority in jeopardy with their antics.

“Nobody who cares about them tried to help, tried to stop them, tried to say, ‘Hey, there’s a better way. You don’t need to do this. You can advocate for your position without alienating the vast majority of voters,’” one Democratic lawmaker told Politico. “If you’re going to start huge fights as opposed to governing,” the person said, “there are consequences.”
