Nearly two decades after her appearance on NBC’s “The Apprentice,” Erin Scavino says President Donald Trump chose her to lead the State Department’s Art in Embassies program as it helps tell America’s story for the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Scavino told Fox News Digital in an exclusive interview that she views her appointment as part of Trump’s broader effort to elevate American culture alongside American history ahead of the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration.

“I WAS A DAY ONE HIRE BY PRESIDENT TRUMP BECAUSE JUST LIKE WE’VE SEEN WITH THE KENNEDY CENTER, HE WANTED TO MAKE THE PERFORMING ARTS GREAT AGAIN, AND HE ALSO PUT ME AT ART IN EMBASSIES TO MAKE VISUAL ARTS GREAT.”

The Art in Embassies office has existed since 1964, placing American artwork in nearly 190 diplomatic properties around the world as a form of cultural diplomacy. Scavino said the nation’s 250th anniversary offered an opportunity to introduce the program to a broader audience.

Opening July 30 at the Art Museum of the Americas, “Passport to Patriotism: 250 Years of Diplomacy” brings together more than 30 contemporary American artists whose work explores patriotism, diplomacy, military service, immigration and national identity.

The exhibition, presented through a partnership between the State Department’s Office of Art in Embassies and the American Arts Conservancy, will be free to the public through Oct. 18.

The exhibition spans dozens of contemporary works exploring patriotism through photography, painting, sculpture and fashion, with each gallery approaching the American story from a different perspective.

Among the featured works is “Gallantly Streaming” by acclaimed artist Barbara Ernst Prey, a sweeping interpretation of the American flag that anchors the exhibition’s exploration of national identity.

Internationally recognized pop artist Romero Britto also reimagines the Statue of Liberty in his signature bold palette for the exhibit, layering vibrant colors against the Stars and Stripes to celebrate what Scavino described as the enduring promise of the American dream.

The exhibit features a powerful series of photographs by Korina Marie Moore, whose images capture moments of military service through a deeply personal lens. Moore’s photographs spotlight the men and women who serve — from sailors gathered around a U.S. Navy vessel to service members standing watch as the Statue of Liberty rises across New York Harbor and the solemnity of Arlington National Cemetery.

Visitors will also encounter an America 250 haute couture gown created specifically for the nation’s semiquincentennial celebration, inspired by Betsy Ross’ flag.

For Scavino, the exhibit represents the latest chapter in a career that unexpectedly led from “The Apprentice” to the Trump administration.

“THE COMMON THREAD THROUGHOUT ALL OF THIS IS PRESIDENT TRUMP. THAT’S WHY I ALWAYS THANK HIM SO MUCH FOR THESE GREAT OPPORTUNITIES.”

Scavino said one of her goals was to create an exhibition that feels welcoming to visitors who might never consider themselves “art people.”

“Art has become sort of a gatekeeping situation or something that’s only for the rich or the elite,” she said. “I wanted to say, ‘Hey, no. We want kids. We want grandparents. We want moms. We want families. We want dads. We want people all over the world to come to this museum because there is something for everyone.'”

Each artwork includes QR codes allowing visitors to hear directly from artists about their work and creative process, an effort Scavino said makes the exhibit more approachable.

“You don’t have to have your nose in the air saying, ‘Oh, that Monet’ or ‘That Degas,'” she said. “You’re going to see a flag. You’re going to see a sculpture. You’re going to hear Americans tell their stories.”

Scavino pointed to Romero Britto’s colorful Statue of Liberty piece, “Liberty for All,” as one example of the American dream reflected throughout the exhibit.

“When I think about his hearts or his Statue of Liberty, it just makes me think about the American dream,” she said. “He is so patriotic and he loves this country.”

One of the exhibition’s most unexpected pieces isn’t a painting or sculpture — it’s a couture gown inspired by Betsy Ross’ American flag.

Scavino said the idea came while she was searching for a wedding dress ahead of her February wedding to fellow Trump administration official Dan Scavino at Mar-a-Lago, when she discovered designer Kate Wasserbach Moore, whose appreciation for American history sparked an unusual collaboration.

“I cold-called her out of the blue and said, ‘Can you create a dress that looks like something one of the wives of our Founding Fathers would have worn and make it patriotic?'” Scavino recalled.

The finished design, featuring flowing red-and-white accents inspired by Betsy Ross’ flag, was created for the exhibition rather than the aisle, adding fashion to a collection that otherwise spans photography, painting and sculpture.

Although Art in Embassies typically works overseas, Scavino said creating a major public exhibition in Washington had been one of her goals since taking over the office.

“I started with a dream because Art in Embassies is generally overseas,” she said. “I wanted to do something, to start a footprint here in the United States.”

For Scavino, the exhibition is ultimately less about individual works than the conversations they may inspire.

“What I love about art is it’s totally different from politics,” she said. “You can get in the door by talking about art… and maybe instead of tear down, we can come together.”

She said that’s especially important because, for many people overseas, an American embassy may be their first — and sometimes only — connection to the United States.

Scavino hopes visitors leave with a deeper appreciation not only for the artwork, but for the stories it tells about the nation it represents.

“You only get to celebrate 250 years once,” she said. “So let art be a way of celebration.”

Thousands of patriots on the National Mall had a message for the media this weekend: President Donald Trump’s Fourth of July address wasn’t too political — it was exactly what America needed to hear.

Attendees at the Great American State Fair told Fox News Digital they saw the speech as patriotic, not partisan, pushing back on media criticism that the president had sullied America’s 250th anniversary celebration.

“He’s talking about taking down communism,” David from New Jersey said.

“That’s the definition of our whole country. Built on capitalism, that’s our whole country. If that’s what he was talking about, I don’t think that’s political at all. It’s just about the freedom that we have here.”

Thousands of Americans packed the National Mall on Saturday to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary, touring exhibits from all 50 states despite sweltering heat and severe thunderstorms that temporarily paused celebrations.

Attendees at the Great American State Fair told Fox News Digital they saw President Trump’s Fourth of July address as a celebration of American values. (Nicholas Ballasy for Fox News Digital)

Hours later, President Trump delivered his 37-minute address, honoring veterans and the nation’s founding while declaring that “no dream in history is bigger” than the American experiment.

“We don’t want communists in our country,” Trump said, before a record-setting fireworks display lit up the sky.

Matt from Florida said that while others may have disliked Trump’s speech, he saw it as a tribute to veterans and Medal of Honor recipients.

“It’s really nice to see him share the stage instead of just giving a speech and going away like most presidents do,” he said.

“It was just nice to actually see him treat the whole thing as a giant event as opposed to just a limelight on himself.”

President Donald Trump speaks during Salute to America, an Independence Day event honoring the nation’s 250th anniversary, Saturday, July 4, 2026, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. (AP Photo/Mark Schiefelbein)

Ed from Ohio said he supports the president “100 percent,” while his wife Linda added a message for critics: “You should be able to rise above your political opinion and still enjoy the country’s Fourth of July.”

Doug and Karen from Texas said they approved of President Trump’s message.

“It wasn’t too political, it was what we needed to hear,” Doug said.

“It was good,” Karen added. “People need to hear it.”

Kim from Michigan called July 4 “a political holiday,” saying people will always find something to criticize.

“Throughout our history, it’s been about our politics and what we stand for as a people, and what we believe in and what we’re willing to fight for,” she said.

Priya from California said politics naturally belongs in a Fourth of July speech, adding that America must change course “from a very negative direction that the country has gone.”

“I think there’s an intricate part that politics play obviously in the 250 years that we have been a nation,” she said. “For it to last another 250 and hopefully beyond, we have to pay attention to that.”

The Great American State Fair continues through July 10th on the National Mall.

President Donald Trump called for passing the SAVE America Act during his Fourth of July address to thousands celebrating America’s 250th birthday on the National Mall in Washington, DC.

The crowd erupted into thunderous cheers when Trump laid out the bill’s voter integrity provisions.

“Today, our country is winning again and we’re winning like never before. America is back, and we want to keep America great, and we will do so by approving the SAVE America Act which means all voters must show voter ID,” Trump told the massive audience.

“All voters must provide a little thing called proof of citizenship. And there will be no mail-in ballots except for illness, disability, military deployment, or travel. And you won’t have cheating on the elections anymore. It’s very simple.”

The SAVE America Act has passed the House three times but faces Senate Democrat obstruction.

Rep. Riley Moore (R-WV) told Breitbart News this week that House Republicans are “constantly consistently held hostage to the inaction of the Senate.”

Moore said the SAVE Act is now being attached to the National Defense Authorization Act through the rules process. Once the NDAA is engrossed in the House, the voter ID language will be merged into the base text.

If Senate Democrats strip the language out, House and Senate leaders would go to conference to fight for reinserting it — forcing senators to take the action of publicly removing election integrity measures from a must-pass defense bill.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), running for governor in his state, said in June that the SAVE America Act “should pass immediately” but Senate Democrats are blocking it using the filibuster.

“80 percent of the American people want the SAVE America Act,” Donalds said.

Early Vote Action’s Scott Presler has been urging lawmakers to pass the SAVE Act for months.

The Supreme Court recently ruled that states with laws allowing mail-in ballots to be counted after election day were not violating federal law.

Trump said the ruling makes the SAVE Act “even more important.”

“Because of the mail-in ballot ruling — which was a little bit surprising, gives people more time to vote illegally — the SAVE Act is even more important,” Trump said. “You have to be a citizen of our country, okay, you have to show you’re a citizen of our country, called citizenship. Voter ID by photo, photo voter ID, and no mail-in ballots — unless you’re in the military, disabled, you’re ill, or you’re away even on a vacation, we’re being very open about it.”

“It’s pretty easy, and we’ll have honest elections,” he said.

President Donald Trump celebrated America’s 250th birthday Saturday night on the National Mall with a speech casting the United States as the envy of the world — and warning that communism threatens its future.

Trump didn’t hold back.

“For 250 years, the United States of America has been the hope, the promise, the light, and the glory among all of the nations of the world, all over the world,” he told the crowd. “They try and be like us. Nobody can be like us.”

“Nobody can be like us.”

The president spent part of his remarks attacking the political left head-on. “Communism is a loser, and it always will be,” Trump said.

He compared the ideology to a disease that demands removal, calling it “like a cancer. You got to cut it out, you got to cut it out fast.”

The warning followed a run of primary victories by candidates linked to the Democratic Socialists of America, NewsNation reported. Trump didn’t name those candidates Saturday, though he has branded them communists before, according to Reuters.

Trump also revived his push for tighter voting rules. “We want to keep America great, and we will do so by approving the Save America Act,” he said.

The bill would require proof of citizenship to register and identification to vote, but it has stalled in Congress.

“You won’t have cheating on the elections anymore, it’s very simple,” Trump said.

The evening nearly collapsed before it started. Thunderstorms forced organizers to clear the Mall hours ahead of the speech, pushing spectators into nearby federal buildings, the New York Post reported.

Some booed the order and refused to leave. Others chanted “U-S-A, open the gates” as they shoved back through security.

Trump thanked those who came back and assured them the storm would not stop them.

He said 375,000 people left and 150,000 returned. Trump recounted an aide’s advice to reschedule. “One of my very brilliant people backstage said, ‘Don’t worry about it, sir, we can do it maybe next week,'” he said.

He refused, insisting the event belonged on the Fourth.

“At 250 years, we may be the oldest constitutional republic on earth, but our country is just getting started, because the best is yet to come.”

A fireworks show followed the roughly 39-minute address. The display launched 851,000 fireworks over Washington and was promoted as breaking the Guinness World Record for the largest ever, Fox News reported.

Trump closed on an upbeat forecast. “At 250 years, we may be the oldest constitutional republic on earth, but our country is just getting started, because the best is yet to come,” he said.

Melania Trump and several relatives stayed to watch the fireworks.

The speech tracked remarks Trump delivered a day earlier at Mount Rushmore, where he called communism “a mortal threat to American liberty.”

Ford Motor Company is celebrating America’s 250th anniversary with a two-week free exhibit at Washington D.C.’s Union Station, showcasing the automaker’s role in shaping the nation over the past 123 years.

“Driving America Forward: A Ford Experience at Union Station” features 10 historic vehicles from the Ford Heritage Vault in Dearborn, displayed behind museum-quality glass.

The collection includes the iconic Model T, a 1941 Ford GP prototype that helped lead to the military Jeep, a 1951 Ford 8N tractor, and a 1934 Ford pickup on loan from late-night host Jay Leno.

“America’s celebrating its 250th anniversary. We’ve been here for almost half of that journey, and we’ve had such a material impact on America.”

Ted Ryan, Ford’s archives and heritage brand manager, told Fox News Digital the exhibit was designed to reveal surprising stories about the company’s influence on American industry and transportation.

“Whether it’s industrializing, building the moving assembly line, mass transportation with the Model T, the best-selling car in the world for a number of years, or even the tractor that transformed farming. Ford has been there,” Ryan said.

Historic Ford vehicles are on display at “Driving America Forward: A Ford Experience,” a free exhibit at Union Station in Washington, D.C., celebrating America’s 250th anniversary. (Fox News Digital/Kiera McDonald)

Among the 10 vehicles are a 1954 F-100 from Virginia’s Red Truck Bakery, a 2026 Oracle Red Bull Racing Formula One car, and artifacts that trace Ford’s 124-year legacy.

Visitors can create a free postcard at an interactive photo station and shop for Ford merchandise.

Ryan said Union Station was the perfect location because it has served as “the front door to the nation’s capital” for more than a century — a place where presidents arrived to be inaugurated and where millions of Americans stepped into the heart of their democracy.

But Ford’s contributions to America extend far beyond automobiles.

“Ford built Mission Control at Johnson Space Center,” Ryan said. “We developed tracking beams for airplanes. Ford invented the mail sorter.”

“Hopefully we’re teaching people about the critical role that Ford has played in America during half of its 250 years.”

Ryan said the vehicles are meant to spark memories — whether they remind visitors of their first car, a family road trip, or a vehicle passed down through generations.

The exhibit highlights Ford’s 124-year legacy and its impact on American transportation and innovation. (Fox News Digital/Kiera McDonald)

Through wars, natural disasters and the COVID-19 pandemic, Ford has consistently stepped up through its “Answering the Call” initiative.

“Ford is always there and always will be there to answer the call whenever America or our local communities need us,” Ryan said.

The exhibit runs daily through July 14, with no tickets or registration required.

Concha tore into Democrats on Fox News’s America Reports Friday, arguing their collective pride in the country has “dropped like a stone” under Trump’s presidency — not because America changed, but because they did.

“I think it’s because they’re embracing more of the free stuff fantasy that comes with socialism, and that’s based on a culture that’s growing in terms of victimhood, in terms of anger, and therefore, they blame the system.”

The rise of socialism inside the Democratic Party is reshaping the left’s entire relationship with America, Concha said. Socialist candidates want to tear down the system the Founders built 250 years ago and replace it with a grievance-driven fantasy.

“They want to blow up the system and recreate what our founders put forward 250 years ago,” Concha said.

Concha pointed out the bitter irony: even foreign tourists visiting for the World Cup recognize what makes America exceptional, yet members of Congress — some of whom risked their lives to get here — bash the country relentlessly.

“You think of even all the millions that sometimes risked their lives to come to the United States, and some that even got in here have run for Congress and have since talked about how horrible this country is,” Concha said.

That negativity won’t win elections, Concha argued.

“In the end, if we just look forward to 2028, I think the positive message wins: The one who talks about ‘our best days are ahead’ and ‘we can accomplish this because we’ve overcome so many things in the past.'”

Concha cited the messaging formulas that have won presidential races: Barack Obama’s “hope and change” and Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again.”

“Positive messages work, and to be this sour on such a great country is something that ultimately will not win over the voters [Democrats] need to win elections,” Concha said.

He closed by connecting American pride to his own life — hard work, reward, the American dream realized at Fox News.

“Look at this background that we have. Look at this set that we’re on. Look at this network that we get to work for. So to have that feeling of reward after all that hard work, I would think more people would embrace that,” Concha said. “But some folks just fall in love with the free stuff and being mediocre, and that’s a whole bowl of wrong.”

Pride in America should be rooted in 250 years of achievement and perseverance — not dependent on whoever holds power at the moment.

That’s nearly double the typical National Mall display.

The show will span more than a mile across Washington, launching simultaneously from eight barges on the Potomac River, West Potomac Park, and firing sites running the length of the Reflecting Pool, according to Politico Playbook.

“More than 60 technicians have spent the past week assembling the display, using fireworks sourced from the United States, Italy, Spain and Asia.”

Pyrotechnico President Rocco Vitale told Playbook his company has been planning the show since January. The soundtrack features patriotic crowd favorites like “Party in the U.S.A.” and “Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue.”

President Donald Trump previewed the event in a Truth Social post, announcing a massive rally he’s calling a “Tribute to America.”

“This HUGE Celebration will honor our Country’s People, Spirit, Strength, Resolve, and Triumphs,” Trump said.

“With the backdrop of the Lincoln Memorial and surrounding the beautifully new Reflecting Pool, more than 300 Members of our strong and talented Military Bands, Orchestras, and Ceremonial Units, will perform Patriotic Melodies and American Classics, and my Playlist (We will have none of those people that put you to sleep and constantly complain!), as we celebrate our Country, and Rally into the next 250 years,” he added.

Trump said the ensemble will be the “largest formation of Joint Military Music and Ceremonial performances in History.”

“There will be incredible Flyovers and Airshows featuring our Top Military Pilots and Equipment, and I will deliver keynote remarks that you will not want to miss,” Trump said.

“To conclude the program, and commemorate this Historic Occasion, I will be launching, what will be, the LARGEST FIREWORKS SHOW IN HISTORY, right here in our Nation’s Capital.”

Lara Trump told The Alex Marlow Show that this display will be “the biggest fireworks display in history there in Washington DC.”

The Trust for the National Mall confirmed the display will include more than 850,000 fireworks and organizers are attempting a new world record.

Few experiences compare to being a Brit living in America as the nation celebrates the 250th anniversary of declaring independence from — well, Britain.

It’s like being invited to your ex’s golden wedding anniversary. You’re genuinely pleased they’ve done well, but someone inevitably stands up and reminds the room why they left.

Every Fourth of July, the scene repeats. Neighbors set off fireworks like medieval artillery officers. Children wave stars and stripes. Someone grills enough meat to feed a small European nation. Then comes the reading of the Declaration of Independence — a magnificent piece of political writing, even if it still sounds like a rather strongly worded letter from across the Atlantic.

As an Englishman, I’ve learned not to take it personally.

Britain has had 250 years to recover. We’ve moved on. Mostly. We even stopped calling the colonies “that little misunderstanding across the Atlantic.”

EVERY NATION NEEDS AN ORIGIN STORY, AND AMERICA’S IS UNUSUALLY CLEAR: A DATE, A DOCUMENT, AND DETERMINED GENTLEMEN WHO DECIDED TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION HAD BECOME INTOLERABLE.

Britain’s story is less tidy. We began somewhere in the fog of Roman roads, Saxon villages, Viking raids, Norman castles, civil wars, and royal family drama. America tells its story with fireworks, flags, speeches, and parades. It’s loud, sincere, sentimental, and occasionally covered in barbecue sauce.

Gloriously American.

Speaking of cultural differences — no divide runs quite as deep as watching an American microwave water for tea and drink it from a foam cup. There are moments when British instincts feel less patriotic than missionary. Even George Orwell agrees. Tea is not merely a beverage. It’s a civilization.

Still, America forgave Britain for King George III. I can forgive America for the microwave.

Over the years, America has become home. My children and grandchildren call this nation home. I’ve stood beside firefighters, police officers, pastors, professors, students, entrepreneurs, and ordinary families building meaningful lives.

Beneath the jokes and stereotypes, Americans possess something deeply admirable: an optimism that refuses to believe tomorrow cannot be better than today.

Britain possesses a magnificent ability to assume everything will probably go wrong while calmly carrying on regardless. Americans say, “We can change the world!” The British reply, “Perhaps, but bring an umbrella.”

Somewhere between those two philosophies lies wisdom. America needs British realism, and Britain could use a little American confidence.

That’s why this anniversary matters.

The remarkable thing about America 250 is not merely that the colonies broke away from Britain. History is filled with revolutions and rebellions. The remarkable thing is what happened afterward.

YESTERDAY’S ENEMIES BECAME TODAY’S CLOSEST FRIENDS. THE FORMER PARENT AND REBELLIOUS CHILD DISCOVERED THAT MATURITY LOOKS LESS LIKE RESENTMENT AND MORE LIKE PARTNERSHIP.

America and Britain have stood together through two world wars, the Cold War, terrorism, humanitarian crises, scientific breakthroughs, and economic cooperation. We share more than a language, although we continue to disagree over how to pronounce half of it.

We share legal traditions, democratic habits, literature, music, commerce, scholarship, and an enduring belief that liberty is worth defending.

In his Sinews of Peace address, Winston Churchill famously described the deep bond between the English-speaking peoples. The phrase “special relationship” has survived because it names something real. It’s not perfect. But it has proved resilient because it rests on memory, sacrifice, institutions, and a shared moral imagination.

America and Britain have often argued, but we’ve shown the world that former adversaries can become allies without pretending the past never happened.

That lesson feels especially important now. In an age when public life is fueled by grievance, suspicion, and permanent outrage, the Anglo-American story offers a quieter and better possibility.

Reconciliation is more impressive than revenge. Cooperation requires more maturity than contempt. Any fool can inherit a quarrel. It takes wisdom to build a friendship from it.

Perhaps that’s why I smile every Independence Day. Not because Britain lost. Not because America won. But because both nations eventually discovered that partnership accomplishes far more than perpetual resentment.

The fireworks no longer feel like a personal attack. They remind me that liberty, rightly ordered, can outgrow conflict and create friendship.

This year, as fireworks illuminate the American sky and patriotic songs fill town squares from sea to shining sea, this British immigrant who became an American citizen will stand with hand over heart — grateful for the nation that welcomed my family and the nation that raised me.

Two countries. One remarkable friendship. Happy 250th, America. No hard feelings.

And if anyone would like to celebrate with a proper cup of tea, I’ll bring the kettle. Please, however, do not microwave the water. Some wounds take longer than 250 years to heal.
