Now that the truth about President Joe Biden’s health struggles has forced him out of the race, liberal media analysts at CNN are rushing to defend him from accusations that he and his team hid evidence of an obvious mental decline from the public.

A fiery argument broke out among panelists on Thursday after conservative commentator Reihan Salam stated that Biden is no longer fit to be president. During a primetime speech on Wednesday night explaining his decision to end his reelection bid, President Biden stated that he would not be resigning and would finish out his first term. Challenging a guest next to him that Biden had “given up” the presidency, Salam shot back, “He is still there for over six months when he is manifestly incapable of doing an exceedingly difficult job.”

Continuing on, he essentially warned that the truth would be too triggering for some listeners and panelists. “I’m sorry to say that this is a sensitive matter for a lot of folks who have been talking about this for some time,” prompting his colleague to relay a story about how no one can judge Biden’s health except his doctor. But that doesn’t get to the heart of the issue, according to Salam. “The deeper question is, who is actually in charge at any given time? This notion that he’s only sharp for six hours of the day, this is an incredibly volatile moment in part because of his failures,” he said. That’s when all hell broke loose.

“Are we having this conversation?” shouted one woman before Ana Navarro jumped in. “Everything you’re saying is speculation,” as she recounted being with President Biden past 9 p.m. “Unlike you, I’ve actually seen the guy,” she seethed, slapping her hands together. “I have seen the guy after he’s had five different events in 24 hours” whereas Salam is just a consumer of conservative “gossip,” she added. Host Abby Phillip made a tepid attempt to bring the temperature at the table down a few degrees but was quickly shouted over.

Salam was not alone in bashing Biden, however. Another guest called the 81-year-old “clearly incompetent” during his June 27th debate with former President Donald Trump. “We know that Robert Hur and Merrick Garland kept those audio tapes from the public” and Vice President Kamala Harris has “deceived the American people” by taking Biden’s place on the ticket, she asserted. The group melted down into a heated crosstalk as Phillip begged her guests to be polite.

Other mainstream news outlets held Harris’s water as she walked into the spotlight, quietly scrubbing mentions of her role as the administration “border czar” and deleting pages listing her as the “most liberal” member of the U.S. Senate. Even MSNBC tried to guide a panel of women toward supporting the first Black female candidate on a major ticket only to see them agree that Harris is an “idiot” who has no track record to run on after three and a half years as the president’s second-in-command.
