Former pro-fighter turned influential internet personality Andrew Tate is leading a protest outside the French embassy in response to an anti-Christian mockery that was broadcasted to millions of people around the world during the opening ceremony at the Paris Olympics.

Tate — a practicing Muslim — is one of several highly influential figures who has condemned the drag-themed mockery of the last supper, one of the most sacred symbols of Christianity. On Sunday, the 37-year-old was seen holding placards reading “Stand up for Christianity” and “Christianity will not be mocked” outside the French embassy in Romania, where he resides.

“I am protesting outside of the French embassy for mocking Jesus during the Olympic ceremony,” Tate wrote in an X post alongside footage of the protest. “The police are threatening to arrest me for unlawful assembly.”

“I am currently on bail, and will face a minimum 3 months in prison. I do this as a Muslim. WHERE ARE THE CHRISTIANS?”

Tate later released a follow-up video in which he can be seen addressing a crowd of bystanders who had gathered outside the embassy.

“This is Romania, it’s supposed to be the most Christian country in Europe. You cannot allow them to desecrate something as important as the Last Supper with transsexuals and little children, pedophilia. There has to be a point you stand up for your beliefs. If you have something in life and you don’t stand up for it, it will not last,” he said.

“If you have a house, you don’t maintain it, it will fall down. Business, you don’t work, it’s gone. Relationship, you don’t take care of her, she’ll leave you. It’s the same with religion. If you Christians don’t start standing up for things, when they mock you publicly and openly, you’ll have no religion left,” he continued. “It doesn’t matter. It’s a matter of time now.”

As outrage and condemnation poured in from faith leaders, political leaders and influential figures around the world, Olympics organizers commented on the anti-Christian display for the first time.

Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps was asked about the backlash during an International Olympic Committee news conference on Sunday.

“Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group. On the contrary, I think (with) Thomas Jolly, we really did try to celebrate community tolerance,” Descamps said. “Looking at the result of the polls that we shared, we believe that this ambition was achieved. If people have taken any offense we are, of course, really, really sorry.”

Faith leaders, including Catholic Bishop Robert Barron, have stated that the IOC’s apology is insufficient.

“And here’s what really bugs me. If we just keep mocking Christianity, what will happen when, in our culture, people no longer hear the story of the prodigal son?” Barron said in an interview with Fox News. “They no longer hear the story of the Good Samaritan. They no longer see the depiction of of the last supper for what it is they no longer see the crucified Christ what will happen to our culture when those things are mocked out of existence.”

Tate — who has been heavily censored on most social media platforms with the exception of X and Rumble — also appears to be unsatisfied with the apology and will be continuing the protests.

Telecommunications company C Spire announced that they will be pulling all ads from NBC’s Paris Olympics coverage after the opening ceremony trashed Christianity with a drag-themed mockery of the Last Supper.

In a mockery of the last supper — when Jesus broke bread with his disciples for the final time just days before he was crucified — the opening ceremony featured a number of drag queens and transgender individuals in a reenactment of one of the most sacred symbols of Christianity. A number of children were also sprinkled in amongst the anti-Christian display.

The opening ceremony also featured a naked man painted in blue and a “woman” with a beard, in addition to another biblical mockery. A pyrotechnics display featured a rider on a white horse in a depiction of the fourth horseman of the apocalypse, with the rider signifying death.

Less than 24 hours after the ceremony generated worldwide outrage, C Spire issued a statement through an X post. “We were shocked by the mockery of the Last Supper during the opening ceremonies of the Paris Olympics.
Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester in Minnesota shared his thoughts on the anti-Christian display at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

The opening ceremony — which featured drag queens and transgender individuals performing a mockery of the last supper — has generated serious controversy online. In addition to the anti-Christian hatred, the ceremony featured scantly dressed drag queens performing sexualized dances, a naked man painted in blue, and a talking severed head.

On Friday evening, Bishop Barron reacted to the display and urged Christians to stand up for their faith.

“France felt evidently, as it’s trying to put its best cultural foot forward, the right thing to do is to mock this very central moment in Christianity where Jesus, at his last supper, gives his body and blood in anticipation of the cross. And so what’s presented though is this gross sort of flippant mockery,” the faith leader said in a video statement.

“France, which used to be called the eldest daughter of the church, Paris that gave us Thomas Aquinas taught there, and Vincent de Paul was there, King Louis IX, St. Louis, France that sent Catholic missionaries all over the world. France, whose culture, and I mean the honoring of the individual, of human rights and freedom, is grounded very much in Christianity, felt the right thing to do was to mock the Christian faith.”

The Bishop went on to note that anti-Christian actors wouldn’t dare to mock Islam in a similar fashion. “Would they ever have dreamed of mocking in this gross, public way a scene from the Quran. As I say, we all know the answer to that,” he said.

“I think, folks, what’s interesting here is this deeply secularist, post-modern society knows who its enemy is. They’re naming it. And we should believe them. They’re telling us who they are. We should believe them. But furthermore, we Christians, we Catholics, should not be sheepish. We should resist, we should make our voices heard.”

The anti-Christian mockery has been condemned by Christian leaders around the world, including those in France.

In a statement released Saturday, a group of French bishops expressed outrage over “scenes of derision and mockery of Christianity, which we deeply deplore.”

“We thank the members of other religious denominations who have expressed their solidarity,” the statement continued. “This morning, we think of all Christians on all continents who have been hurt by the outrage and provocation of certain scenes.”

In an X post, Archbishop Charles Scicluna of Malta expressed his “distress and great disappointment at the insult to us Christians during the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics when a group of drag artists parodied the Last Supper of Jesus.”
