At the Democratic National Convention, delegates took part in a symbolic roll call vote, echoing their earlier decision to nominate Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democrat presidential candidate. However, some DNC delegates have expressed their hesitations about casting their vote for Harris, as they remain uncommitted until their concerns regarding Gaza are addressed.

The vote, merely a formality following a virtual nomination earlier this month, saw 44 delegates choose to vote “present,” a Daily Caller review reported.

The “uncommitted” trend began with February’s Listen to Michigan campaign, a grassroots initiative that rallied voters to make protest votes during the state’s primary. Surpassing expectations, the campaign secured more than 13 percent of the vote. Building on this momentum, the movement spread nationally, prompting voters in liberal states like Hawaii, Washington, and Minnesota to cast enough “uncommitted” ballots to send similarly minded delegates to the convention.

Members of the pro-Palestinian ‘uncommitted’ movement gathered for a rally at a park near the DNC, pushing for the inclusion of a Palestinian-American speaker at the Democratic convention. At the rally on Wednesday, they amplified their calls for Democrat leaders to intensify efforts to end the conflict in Gaza.

“We supply these weapons, so if you really wanted a ceasefire, just stop sending the weapons,” Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) said to supporters of the cause on Wednesday. “It’s that simple.”

According to The Seattle Times, some members of the Uncommitted movement, including Washington state’s Yaz Kader and Sabrene Odeh, are officially uncommitted delegates. Both chose to vote “present” during the virtual roll call earlier in August as part of a strategic effort to pressure Harris to endorse a ceasefire and support an embargo on U.S. weapons to Israel.

“I entered my vote on behalf of a 10-year-old who was bombed and killed on her 10th birthday,” said Odeh.

During the second night of the DNC in Chicago, more than a dozen pro-Palestinian demonstrators were arrested following a protest that started outside the Israeli consulate and extended onto nearby streets. The demonstration was winding down when Chicago police handcuffed several participants. Despite this, the remaining protesters continued to chant, calling for an end to the war in Gaza as the convention activities proceeded.

Tonight’s DNC will spotlight Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), the vice-presidential nominee, as he delivers the keynote address. This marks a significant step in introducing him as Harris’ running mate. The convention will also feature prominent figures such as former President Bill Clinton and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). A key topic of discussion will be the January 6 breach. On the GOP side, independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to suspend his campaign this Friday, according to reports. Kennedy is reportedly considering an endorsement of former President Donald Trump.

An Israeli NGO is calling on U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland to investigate Amal Clooney, the wife of actor George Clooney, over her role in the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over the war in Gaza.

According to Shurat HaDin, Clooney participated in the ICC’s advisory forum and was a supporter of the decision to issue arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant, as well as Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif in Gaza.

The group is alleging that Clooney violated federal law by participating in the “investigative actions” against the two Israeli leaders while on American soil. The complaint specifically alleged that Clooney violated the American Servicemembers’ Protection Act of 2001, also known as The Hague Invasion Act.

Under the legislation, ICC agents are prohibited from conducting their investigations on behalf of the court while on U.S. soil. Neither the United States nor Israel is a member of the ICC.

“The American law is extremely clear: No agent of the ICC can operate or assist in ICC investigative actions against Americans or their allies while residing in the U.S.,” Shurat HaDin President Nitsana Darshan-Leitner said in a statement to Ynet News.

If Clooney is found to have conducted any of her work for the court while located in the United States, she could face felony charges.

In its letter, the Israeli NGO noted that Clooney took part in an investigative forum under ICC Chief Prosecutor Karim Khan, which was tasked with investigating allegations of war crimes in the Gaza War.

The group further alleges that Clooney openly discussed her work with the forum and bragged about her efforts to incriminate the Israeli leaders.

“As President Biden stated, it is outrageous that this biased court in The Hague would attempt to prosecute Israeli officials as they battle the Hamas murderers, rapists and terror gangs in Gaza,” Darshan-Leitner said.

“If Amal Clooney participated in the ICC panel investigating Prime Minister Netanyahu while residing in the US then she is the one that needs to be prosecuted. She seems to be passionate about international law but pretty contemptuous of American regulations.” 

Shurat HaDin also pointed to George Clooney’s fundraising and support for the Biden/Harris campaign. “George Clooney’s efforts to intervene and interfere with White House policy on behalf of his wife while raising funds for Biden’s campaign is troubling and suspicious,” she added.

The Pennsylvania State Capitol complex was evacuated on Saturday after more than 250 people, including every member of the Pennsylvania House and Senate, received a bomb threat.

Lawmakers and other Pennsylvania government officials and staff received an email titled “my manifesto” shortly after 5:45 p.m. on Saturday. The threatening email stated that “highly lethal” explosive devices had been placed in and around the Pennsylvania State Capitol and Pennsylvania Judicial Center “in the name of Palestine.”

The sender vowed to set off devices every hour unless President Biden went on national television and cut off all aid and support for Israel.

“I plan on triggering one device every few hours until Joe Biden goes on national television and publicly denounces the illegitimate state of Israel,” the email said. “Keep in mind, I am inside one of the two buildings armed w/ a knife, and plan on remaining here to my dying breath!”

Michelle Richwine, a special assistant at the Office of Chief Clerk for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, alerted all Capitol employees to the threat in an email. “Attention House Members and Staff – Vacate the Capitol Complex immediately. Do not reenter until cleared by Capitol Police.”

A handful of staffers who had gathered outside the complex told Penn Live that there were very few people inside when the evacuation order was given around 6:15 p.m.

President Biden is scheduled to make an appearance at a local business in Harrisburg on Sunday.

One lawmaker reported that police were still conducting sweeps of the complex as of 9:45 p.m. on Saturday. Law enforcement personnel could be seen using K-9 units in order to search for potential explosive devices.

The communications director for the Pennsylvania Department of General services issued a statement to WGAL as the search was ongoing.

“On Saturday, the Pennsylvania Capitol Police evacuated the Pennsylvania Capitol Complex and Judicial Center after a bomb threat was emailed to all members of the House of Representatives and Senate. The Capitol Police immediately worked with House and Senate security, as well as the Office of the PA Courts, to issue an immediate evacuation notice to those in the buildings,” they said.

“Capitol Police did not find any explosives during a K9 search of the perimeter of the Capitol Complex. Capitol Police and the FBI are still actively conducting a comprehensive search and investigation in coordination with the Pennsylvania State Police, House and Senate security, and the Dauphin County Sheriff’s office to ensure the safety of the area.”
