Corey Lewandowski, who has served as an informal adviser to former President Donald Trump during his initial campaign, is set to join the senior leadership team of Trump’s current campaign, according to a source familiar with the development who spoke on the condition of anonymity to Politico. Lewandowski will be part of a group of former Trump aides taking on similar advisory roles.

As Trump aims to strengthen his position in the presidential race, his campaign is expanding its team, enlisting several key allies, including Lewandowski, who previously managed Trump’s 2016 campaign. Sources associated with the campaign have emphasized that the recent additions to the leadership team are not indicative of a major overhaul, but rather an enhancement of the campaign’s management as it gears up for the critical final months before the election.

Among the new appointees is Tim Murtaugh, former communications director for Trump’s 2020 campaign. Also joining the team are Alex Pfeiffer and Alex Bruesewitz, both of whom held significant roles in the Trump-aligned MAGA Inc. super PAC, with Bruesewitz boasting a substantial social media following. Earlier this week, Politico reported that Taylor Budowich, formerly at the helm of MAGA Inc., has transitioned to a senior position within the Trump campaign.

“As we head into the home stretch of this election, we are continuing to add to our impressive campaign team,” Trump campaign senior aides said in a statement. “Corey Lewandowski, Taylor Budowich, Alex Pfeiffer, Alex Bruesewitz, and Tim Murtaugh are all veterans of prior Trump campaigns and their unmatched experience will help President Trump prosecute the case against Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, the most radical ticket in American history.”

Lewandowski has been known for his close ties to former President Trump. He was the inaugural campaign manager for Trump’s 2016 presidential run but was dismissed by Trump during the Republican primary season. Afterward, Lewandowski transitioned to a role as a political commentator with various networks, including One America News Network, Fox News, and CNN.

Before his involvement with Trump, Lewandowski garnered experience working on multiple political campaigns, engaging with the conservative advocacy group Americans for Prosperity, and working as a lobbyist. Lewandowski attempted to run for office twice, both in Massachusetts and New Hampshire, but was unsuccessful. In September 2021, reports emerged alleging that Lewandowski had made inappropriate advances toward the wife of a significant Trump donor. Following these reports, a spokesperson for Trump announced that Lewandowski would no longer be affiliated with Trump World.

With less than 100 days remaining until the 2024 presidential election, Vice President Kamala Harris and her vice presidential running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, are set to embark on a campaign tour across key battleground states next week. Following her rise to the forefront of the Democratic ticket last month, Harris is rapidly gaining ground on former President Trump in the polls.

In light of Joe Biden’s disappointing debate performance, concerns mounted that Democrats could face a significant defeat, leading to Harris’ installation as the nominee. Longtime NBC News anchor Chuck Todd has no doubt that former President Donald Trump is back in the saddle, telling viewers on Wednesday that the “swagger” he brought to his first winning campaign is evident once again.

Appearing on “Katy Tur Reports,” Todd noted that the former president seemed “oddly loose” during several campaign stops in the battleground state of Michigan, including at a rally with Black pastors who thanked him for being the first presidential candidate to visit “the hood” in decades. If he can keep his cool and focus on the many advantages he has going into November, Todd predicted, his “swagger” could be plenty abundant to charm the swing voters he’ll need.

“I don’t mean to simplify this, but, you know, Donald Trump’s rhetoric, even, and even his sort of swagger looks more like 2016 and the campaign you covered so closely, Katy, than he looks in 2020,” Todd told host Katy Tur, the Daily Caller reported. “And in fact, I was just discussing this with somebody we all know … he even noted, we were talking about this idea that when Trump’s losing, the worst version of Trump shows up and when Trump’s winning or he thinks he’s ahead, he’s actually a different person, a different candidate.”

“Donald Trump in Detroit, and those events he did, he was oddly loose,” Todd continued. “He was trying to be funny. And all of this where from about 2017 to 2022 and even 2023 through the primaries, it’s been nothing but angry grievance Trump, angry, angry, angry. It’s interesting if he somehow drops the grievance, he could end up looking more like that 2016 candidate where he’s the outside disrupter.”

Tur countered, arguing it may be too difficult for Trump to “drop the grievance” he still holds against President Biden, the Justice Department, and Democratic prosecutors like Alvin Bragg, Letitia James, and Fani Willis, all of whom have or continue to charge him with a myriad of crimes.

“He’s going to be sentenced in a few weeks here in Manhattan,” Tur said. “The presidential immunity decisions coming out with the Supreme Court. There are reasons to continue on the grievance trail. And this whole campaign, it seems to be less for him about policy and more about what they’re doing to me is what they want to do to you. My grievances are your grievances.”

The liberal media’s inability to understand why Trump’s fury against his prosecutors is good politics is also blinding commentators from understanding how average voters feel, some conservatives say. Tara Setmayer, a recent guest on Don Lemon’s program, said “aggrieved” Americans feel Trump is fighting for them.

“They’re aggrieved. Donald Trump has given voice and credibility and a platform to their grievances, so they can take it out on everybody else and say see, ‘I’m not alone here. I have someone who’s championing our grievances too,’ and that’s Donald Trump. Why they believe that he gives two shits about them, volumes will be written about the political psychology around this,” Setmayer told Lemon, who replied it made “no sense” to him, the Caller added.

To anyone closely watching, it’s plain to see that President Trump’s criminal convictions are doing him plenty of political good. A focus group of Georgia voters conducted by MSNBC homed in on the sentiment as several Black panelists voiced their agreement that Trump is the victim of an unjust justice system.

Asked whether the trials have caused his support to waver, Antonio Jones said the opposite. “It’s actually caused me to support him more. I just don’t believe there’s a coincidence that we have a trial happening in Atlanta, we have one happening in New York. So the question people are beginning to ask themselves, like I did, ‘Why now?’”

Lisa Babbage, who is Black, said she has spoken with many former Democrats who now side with Trump. “They have changed their political persuasion to independent, and they are looking forward to voting for Trump,” she told Alexander, “because now they find something in common with a political candidate at that level.”

A middle school civic war is brewing between supporters of former President Donald Trump and liberal media analysts like James Carville who incited a middle school civics lesson war over America’s form of government.

The onetime advisor to former President Bill Clinton has made headlines in recent months for bashing his party’s intransigence on cultural virtue signaling over kitchen table matters that polls show matter most to voters. What took him off-message, however, was a relatively inconsequential debate about whether America is a “democracy” or a “republic.” Carville, sporting a Lousiana State University shirt to rep where he now teaches, sounded off on MAGA supporters who have been trolling liberal commentators warning that Trump represents a threat to American democracy.

“They did this thing and they’re interviewing these people. And he says, ‘We’re not a democracy, we’re a republic. We’re not a democracy, we’re a republic.’ An so finally, the guy says, ‘What is a republic?’ And of course, there I am. Let me name a republic for you: North Korea, okay? Iran calls itself a republic. Remember the DGR, the German Democratic Republic? And so, about all it means, to the extent other than just people referring to themselves and I don’t think North Korea is approaching a democracy. Of course it’s not, or Iran, or remember the USSR? What was the ‘R’ in the USSR?” Carville said, slouching in his chair at home in a video spotted by the Daily Caller.”

“Alright, so it’s colossally stupid. It doesn’t even account for anything and these people are giant fools,” Carville continued. “And of course, you read or study this in ninth grade … it’s a representative democracy, not a participatory democracy. And they’ll point to some town in New Hampshire where the whole town votes on something. But just people have no idea what the fuck they’re talking about and they just blabber the stupidest shit that you can imagine. And that is the big talking point: ‘Well, we’re a republic, we’re not a democracy.’ What the fuck is a republic? Anybody can call themselves a republic. I give the Brits credit, at least they don’t try to pretend.”

Carville’s reaction came shortly after Anne Applebaum, a historian of European communism in the 20th century, appeared on CNN to surmise that allies of Trump are repeating the “republic” assertion to downplay that the former president represents a threat to America’s form of government, whatever one considers it to be.

“You are hearing people say America is not a democracy because there are people around Trump who want them to be saying that, who’ve been planting that narrative,” Applebaum asserted, the Caller added. CNN largely harped on that point while searching the country to highlight the pervasive belief among conservatives that America is a republic, not a democracy.

Meltdowns from the man who made “it’s the economy, stupid” a stapled slogan of American politics are nothing new this year. As younger and more diverse voters have drifted away from the Biden coalition and announced their support for Trump in increasing numbers, Carville has publicly chastised his party. “Democrat messaging is full of sh*t,” he said during a recent podcast appearance. In another video, he issued an ominous prediction about what these young and naive voters will unleash if they support the Republican in November.

“If they get a hold, there will be no government left, there’ll be no rights left, you’ll live under theocracy, you’ll end up in Christian nationalism,” Carville claimed, referring to Trump.
