Lara Trump, the powerful family daughter-in-law who took a seat at the GOP’s helm this year, believes there is an obvious explanation for the technical glitches that plagued a Monday night online interview between Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump.

During a brief interview, Lara, who earlier this year was announced as co-chair of the Republican National Committee, railed at length against “deep state” enemies of her father-in-law who she claimed want to maintain their “free pass” for nefarious activities under President Joe Biden. President Trump and Musk had teased their Spaces discussion on X as the “interview of the century,” but it was immediately delayed by 40 minutes as the platform reeled from a denial-of-service attack by hackers. Once fixed, the two spoke publicly for more than two hours and reached hundreds of millions of accounts.

“I think it’s pretty obvious at this point, there are a lot of people out there and there’s a massive effort, of course, to keep Donald Trump out of the White House. These people are terrified. This is the deep state. This is the swamp in Washington, D.C.,” Lara told Fox News’s Sean Hannity. “These are the people who are our adversaries in many cases, they know that the jig is up, the game is over when Donald J. Trump returns to the White House and they are petrified of it. They’ve had a free pass for three and a half years … the people who want to do nefarious activities to us here in America, to our allies around the world, they’ve gotten a free pass and a free ride and they would like another four years of that with Kamala Harris at the helm.”

The mini-meltdown was reminiscent of the botched rollout of Ron DeSantis’s presidential campaign on X last year. It set the stage for criticisms of the Florida governor as less prepared than Trump for the national stage and undergirded other missteps, from his reticence while speaking with voters to being thin-skinned in response to questions from the media. Musk, who is publicly supporting and financing Trump’s reelection, offered equal time to Vice President Harris if she would like to speak with him on the social media network. “Happy to host Kamala on an 𝕏 Spaces too,” he wrote after the Trump interview. He was preempted by a statement from the Harris campaign. Trump’s entire campaign is in service of people like Elon Musk and himself – self-obsessed rich guys who will sell out the middle class and who cannot run a livestream in the year 2024,” a spokesperson wrote.

Still, the Trump-Musk interview garnered a respectable number of attendees and served as an opportunity for President Trump to announce his return to the platform that helped propel him into the White House. On Truth Social, he bragged that more than 1 billion accounts tuned in. “An all-time record, but the media refuses to write about it because they are FAKE NEWS!” he wrote.

Bryson DeChambeau celebrated his hard-fought U.S. Open victory with members of the Trump family at Westchester National Golf Club on Monday night.

The former president sent Dechambeau a congratulatory message shortly after his wild victory on Sunday. “Congratulations to Bryson DeChambeau on his incredible WIN of the United States Open! He showed a toughness and inner strength, matched perfectly with his GREAT Golfing Talent, that can never be denied! Under massive pressure, he pulled off some of the greatest shots ever made, especially his spectacular sand save on the 18th Hole that gave him the Victory,” Trump wrote in Truth Social post.

Trump went on to state that DeChambeau will go on to win many more Major Championships,” adding that he “is a truly tough competitor, even a nasty one, but he also happens to be a great guy.”

DeChambeau won his second U.S. Open title on Sunday in one of the most intense final rounds in recent major championship history after the LIV Golf star out-dueled Rory McIlroy. The Northern Irish star had a one-stroke lead until missing a series of heartbreaking short putts down the stretch. After coughing up the lead on 18, DeChambeau defied the odds with an outstanding par save after sending his tee shot wide left and eventually winding up in a deep green-side bunker.

“The U.S.A. could not be better represented. Congratulations also to LIV Golf for their genius in signing Bryson and other of the best Golfers in the World. Hopefully Golf will soon come together as one, fully united, which is the way it should be!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

After securing the trophy, DeChambeau could be seen partying with Eric Trump and his wife, RNC co-chair Lara Trump. At one point, DeChambeau could be seen chugging wine out of the U.S. Open trophy.

Eric held the trophy while DeChambeau poured red wine into it. “Now that’s a full trophy, ladies and gentlemen,” Trump said.

The major champion later hit some glowing golf balls into the night with the Trump family, as evidenced by a video captioned, “send it, Bryson,” by Lara Trump.

Sunday’s victory was DeChambeau’s second major championship after he previously won the U.S. Open in 2020. The American has been in arguably the best form of his career in the current major campaign with a top 10 finish in The Masters and a runner-up at the PGA Championship.
