Independent presidential candidate Cornel West has exposed a desperate attempt by the Democrat Party to bribe him into dropping out of the 2024 race. The scholar and activist revealed during an interview that Democrat leaders reached out to him with offers of positions and resources if he would back down, particularly in support of Kamala Harris’s campaign.

Stein lauded the court’s decision today, remarking that the Green Party “beat back the DNC’s attack.”

“Today justice prevailed,” she said. Michael White, co-chair of the Wisconsin Green Party, dismissed the complaint as a “mark of fear by the Democratic Party,” asserting that it only served to energize Stein’s supporters. “It was an inevitable conclusion because the complaint had no merit to begin with and we knew that,” he stated. Meanwhile, Democrat National Committee spokesperson Adrienne Watson described the decision as “disappointing,” arguing that the Green Party should not be on the ballot.

A surge in Republican voter registration nationwide is adding to a wealth of evidence that the GOP is in a strong position across the board with 83 days to go before the November elections.

An analysis of voter registrations performed by Michael Pruser of Decision Desk HQ shows a tale of two political parties: one facing mountain headwinds while another runs toward Election Day with the wind at its back. Nationally, the Republican Party added more than a quarter-million members in July alone while the Democrat Party lost just over 19,000 in its ranks. Extrapolated over the past three and a half years since the last presidential election, the GOP enjoyed modest growth: a net gain of 393,365 sign-ups, including in some astounding places like California (+148,823), Florida (+151,456), and new Jersey (+152, 918). Today Florida contains one million more Republicans than Democrats, a stark change from the enrollment advantage Democrats enjoyed just four years ago, per the AP.

As positive as Republicans may feel about their party’s growth, they might be downright giddy about the shrinking Democratic electorate. Between November 2020 and July 2024, more than 3.5 million voters have left the Democratic Party, a sign of just how unfavorable it has become under President Joe Biden. Allies of President Trump were quick to note following President Joe Biden’s announcement that he would not seek a second term that Democrats are dismissing the will of tens of millions of party faithful who lined up to vote in Democratic primaries only to see their nominee changed approximately 100 days before Election Day. “They stole the race from Biden after he won it in the primaries — A First!” Trump himself posted on Truth Social. “These people are the real THREAT TO DEMOCRACY!”

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) echoed that accusation. “Having invalidated the votes of more than 14 million Americans who selected Joe Biden to be the Democrat nominee for president, the self-proclaimed ‘party of democracy,’ has proven exactly the opposite,” Mr. Johnson said in a statement following Biden’s withdrawal, adding Democrats were “trying to upend the expressed will” of primary voters.

The first poll conducted entirely since Biden’s dropout shows President Trump leading Harris by two points nationally and even larger margins in a host of swing states. On Wednesday, Harris advisor Jennifer O’Malley Dillon released a memo to Politico outlining the path her team sees to victory. “About 7% of voters remain undecided in this race, and these voters are disproportionately Black, Latino, and under 30. They are more likely to have supported the Biden-Harris ticket in 2020, and are two times more likely to be Democrats than Republicans.”As for the map: “We continue to focus on the Blue Wall states of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania — and the Sun Belt states of North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada, where the Vice President’s advantages with young voters, Black voters, and Latino voters will be important to our multiple pathways to 270 electoral votes.”

The Daily Caller reported on a back-and-forth between Sunny Hostin and her colleague Sara Haines, who stated she was “ashamed” of her fellow Democrats and found their pressure on Biden to drop out “disgusting,” comparing it to Republicans’ disciplined ability to “fall in line” behind Trump. In a memo shared with Semafor, advisors to former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton outlined how the Democratic Party may parse its best alternative nominees if the pressure on Biden becomes too great to forge ahead as he has promised. Among its lengthy list of requirements: candidates would be given just a few days to throw their hats in the ring; must promise to refrain from attacking one another; and would seek votes from pledged Democratic delegates rather than repeating divisive and expensive state primary elections.

The two authors write optimistically about how Biden’s stepping down would make him a “modern-day George Washington” in the eyes of voters and leave the country “captivated” on the Democratic contest, Semafor added.

Other elements of the “blitz” primary would be a number of high-profile forums moderated by cultural icons including former first lady Michelle Obama, Oprah, superstar singer Taylor Swift, and others who have not been privy to the plan’s development, let alone agreed to participate. After a string of public appearances, the candidates would then head to the Democratic National Convention in mid-August where delegates would use a rank-choice voting system to select the party’s nominee.

Asked for his reaction, President Biden’s campaign sent a statement referring to his earlier refusal to drop out of the race. “I’m not letting one 90-minute debate wipe out three and a half years of work. I’m staying in the race, and I will beat Donald Trump,” he said in Wisconsin last week. The spokesperson pointed to aggressive fundraising in the days following the debate, including receipts from $38 million in donations.

Still, the Democratic Party’s open fissures come at the worst possible time. President Biden is suffering from his lowest approval rating on record, according to the nonpartisan FiveThirtyEight tracker, and even liberal media outlets like CNN are debunking Biden’s notion that polls are not capturing the depth of his support. Top Democrats in the U.S. House and Senate met privately over the weekend to discuss how and whether to approach the 81-year-old about exiting the race.

In a show of defiance, President Biden sat for an interview with ABC News where he chalked his poor debate performance up to a “bad night,” poor sleep, and a persistent cold that got the better of him. Less than 12 hours after delivering a stilted and faltering debate performance, President Joe Biden is being defended by his campaign amid an avalanche of pleas by liberal politicians and pundits for the Democratic Party to find a new nominee.

In a statement to CNN White House correspondent Kayla Tausche, the Biden camp shrugged off accusations that the 81-year-old leader should step down ahead of the party’s national convention in August, which would provide Democrats a critical but narrow window to find an alternative. Plans haven’t changed, according to the reporter who wrote on X that a presidential advisor told her, “Not only does @POTUS not plan to drop out, Biden remains committed to a second debate in September.”

Thursday night’s encounter between Biden and former President Donald Trump was the first of just two debates set this year and was deliberately proposed early by the Biden team on the presumption that a shaky performance would be forgotten by Election Day. The event was notable for the number of easy layups missed by Biden as Trump offered openings on a number of vulnerable fronts, including abortion, tariffs, and his economic record. Instead, Biden delivered a meandering series of responses, often mumbled or delivered in a hoarse voice; conservatives jeered when the Democrat badly botched a response to Trump on social safety programs, claiming he “beat Medicare” after struggling for what seemed like an eternity to find right words.

The second debate will be hosted by ABC on September 10th, and similar qualifications to make the stage mean it’s unlikely that Trump and Biden will be joined by independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.

By then, it would be far too late for Democrats to find an alternative to Biden, and not even the entreaties from major party leaders would be enough to dissuade him from soldiering on. The Daily Mail previously reported that Democrats have prepared a strategy to force Biden from the race if his first debate performance went as badly as it did.

If negative feedback from the debate reaches a fever pitch within their party, it would be up to some of the Democrats’ top leaders to collectively force the president out of the race. “The only people who could force him out would be Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer,” one Democratic strategist told DailyMail.com. “It would have to be the four of them collectively.”

Other Democratic consultants, including Mark Penn and former Obama advisor David Axelrod, said it’s up to Biden’s team to follow through on their commitment to an early debate with a standout performance by their man. “They have deliberately thrown down the gauntlet for an early debate,” Penn said, “and I think that’s gonna be the point at which Americans judge: is he ready for another term or not.” Axelrod, who earlier this year publicly urged Biden to consider not seeking reelection for the good of the country, was sharply rebuked by the president in private.

A former CNN anchor and political commentator swept the Democratic primary in New York’s 1st congressional district on Tuesday.

Voters in Long Island selected John Avlon as their preference to face Congressman Nick LaLota (R-NY) in a reliably red district, though Avlon’s connections to the world of mainstream media may be an additional benefit in his general election campaign. Avlon, 51, carried more than 70% of the vote against two rivals with more than 90% of votes tallied, reported New York’s NBC affiliate.

The former reporter announced his departure from the network in February after more than 14 years in front of the camera or in a production capacity, according to the Daily Caller. In remarks following his victory, Avlon promised to build a “broad coalition” of anti-Trump voters as he heads toward November.

“Now, from the beginning of our campaign just 125 days ago, I was clear on our goals and vision for winning. I said that we would build a broad and patriotic coalition to defend American democracy by defeating Donald Trump and winning back the House,” Avlon said during his victory speech, the Caller reported.

“We know that action is the best antidote to anxiety, right? And we in Long Island County are lucky to live in a swing district – most Americans don’t,” he continued. “That’s what’s led to this poisonous partisanship we’re all so frustrated about. But here, we can do something about it.”

The outlet added that Avlon grounded his campaign with a promise to “defeat Donald Trump” and defend democracy, one that may be hard to defend now that swing state voters trust Trump over President Joe Biden when asked who would be a better protector of democracy, the Washington Post reported. The anchor’s case for winning may be stronger if he were running against a hard-right Republican; however, Rep. LaLota has shied away from the spotlight, focusing on the block-and-tackle of representing his district. He has spoken in defense of Trump, notably calling on New York’s Democratic governor to pardon him, but doesn’t go out of his way to raise his national profile. He safely defeated his Democratic rival in 2022, a Fox affiliate previously reported.

In sharp contrast, LaLota’s fame-seeking Democratic colleague Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) was resoundingly defeated in Tuesday’s Democratic primary as voters bucked the “Squad” member in favor of a pro-Israel moderate Democrat from Westchester County. Observers on the ground pointed not only to Bowman’s anti-Israel statements, pulling a fire alarm, and courting of 9/11 conspiracy theories, but also his basic lack to strong relationships in the district. On the Republican side, conservative star Lauren Boebert (R-CO) handily won a crowded primary after leaving her swing-state district to seek reelection in the state’s safely conservative 4th district.
