Vice President Kamala Harris delivered yet another one of her signature “word salads” when asked what she would do on day one should she be elected president in November.

In her first interview since becoming the de-facto Democratic Party nominee nearly 40 days ago, Harris sat down with a left-leaning outlet in CNN. The interview has been widely viewed as unusual given the fact that Harris was flanked by her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, meaning that she has yet to sit for a solo interview.

Host Dana Bash began by asking the vice president would she would do in her first day in the Oval Office.

“Well, there are a number of things. I will tell you first and foremost, one of my highest priorities is to do what we can to support and strengthen the middle class. When I look at the aspirations, the goals, the ambitions of the American people, I think that people are ready for a new way forward, in a way that generations of Americans have been fueled by hope and by optimism,” Harris replied without answering the question.

“I think sadly in the last decade we have had in the former president someone who has really been pushing an agenda and an environment that is about diminishing the character and the strength of who we are as Americans, really dividing our nation, and I think people are ready to turn the page on that,” Harris continued.

Bash was eventually forced to once again Harris what she would do on day one, at which point she listed a number of policy goals that would need to pass through Congress.

“Day one, it’s going to be about, one, implementing my plan for what I call an opportunity economy. I’ve already laid out a number of proposals in that regard, which include what we’re going to do to bring down the cost of everyday goods, what we’re going to do to invest in families, for example extending the child tax credit to $6,000 for families for the first year of their child’s life,” Harris answered.

While the Harris-Walz Campaign has yet to release a formal policy plan despite early voting starting in just a few weeks, Harris has released a number of vague policy goals, including price-fixing on food items and $25,000 tax credits for “first generation home buyers.”

After more than a month of hand-wringing by the Harris campaign, the vice president and Democratic nominee will finally sit for her first unscripted interview. But her decision to bring along running mate Tim Walz is being panned by CNN analyst Scott Jennings who called the move for what it is: “weak sauce.”

Jennings, a conservative commentator for the network, said it’s indicative of how aides to Vice President Kamala Harris don’t trust her to competently complete a sit-down interview with Dana Bash on Thursday without having Walz by her side. The 9 p.m. ET interview comes while Harris is barnstorming Georgia, a swing state she desperately needs to win in November. CNN anchor Anderson Cooper agreed that it’s fair to question why Harris can’t speak solo, teeing Jennings up to mock the terms of the interview.

“I have great confidence in Dana and CNN to do this. I think it’s incredibly weak, weak sauce, to show up with your running mate. The fact that they don’t have enough confidence in her to let her sit, herself, the actual top of the ticket and let her do a single interview… in fact, I think the hand-wringing and the gyrations over this, over the last month, show a troubling lack of confidence in her ability, which also makes you wonder as a voter what kind of president would you be if this kind of a small-time decision – can we do an interview or not? – what does that look like for your decision-making process,” questioned Jennings. “So yes, I think Republicans are going to think it’s pretty weak to show up effectively with someone to take up half the time.”

For weeks, former President Donald Trump and his allies in the media have lambasted Democrats’ decision to hide Harris from the cameras. She was kept to tightly scripted rallies and teleprompters and only briefly exchanged words with Fox News’s Peter Doocy who jokingly got in a question asking when he would get his own one-on-one interview with her. Harris laughed and shrugged as aides shuttled her past reporters and out a side door. The announcement of her CNN interview is in keeping with a previous promise by her spokesman that an interview would occur by the end of the month, though the special request that Walz be included has raised eyebrows among observers.

Polls show that Vice President Harris did not experience a post-convention bump following her time in Chicago last week: national surveys have her trailing, tied, or barely ahead of Trump in battleground states. In addition, her team is intimately aware of how badly President Biden’s image was tattered after a disastrous sit-down interview with NBC News’s Lester Holt after an even worse debate performance in June. Trump, in contrast, has done a number of high-profile, hour-long media appearances where he accuses Harris of purposely hiding from tough questions and coasting to November. Even getting the vice president to agree to a first debate has been a problem: earlier this week the Harris campaign demanded that ABC News leave microphones unmuted in hopes that Trump will turn off voters by interrupting her. Trump, who has already agreed to debate on ABC despite his ongoing lawsuit against George Stephanopoulos, accused her of trying to change the terms so she can avoid skipping a debate altogether.

During the third night of the 2024 Democratic National Convention, CNN veteran Dana Bash inadvertently roasted her own party, focusing on the contrast in the Democrat definition of masculinity.

Amid the Democrats’ convention, Bash praised the party’s strategy of showcasing figures like Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and “Second Gentleman” Doug Emhoff as paragons of modern manhood, yet her words seemed to reveal more than intended.

“They are doing so in trying to put forward male figures, Tim Walz being one of them, Doug Emhoff last night, who can speak to men out there who might not be the sort of testosterone-laden, you know, gun-toting kind of guy who wants to listen to Hulk Hogan and the kind of players that came out at the RNC,” Bash said.

“And that’s something that they really are trying to work on with male voters beyond the base,” Bash continued, reinforcing the idea that the Democratic approach to masculinity is a calculated strategy rather than a genuine representation of their male base. Whether intentional or not, the admission plays into a narrative embraced by many on the right—that the left shuns traditional masculinity.

JD Vance (R-OH) the GOP vice presidential nominee, sparred with host Dana Bash in a compelling CNN interview over the weekend. Known for his somewhat straightforward style, Vance did not hesitate to voice his opinions about Democrat rivals, Vice President Kamala Harris and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

“We’re running against a set of policies that I think have failed the American people,” Vance told Bash early on. “President Trump delivered lower prices, lower inflation, a prosperous and peaceful world and also a secure border and Kamala Harris’s policies have produced the exact opposite.”

As the interview progressed, Bash challenged Vance on his portrayal of the Democrats, particularly his use of the term “weird” to describe Walz’s behavior. Vance defended his choice of words by alluding to the moment when Walz gave his wife a “nice firm Midwestern handshake” instead of a more affectionate gesture during his VP announcement, which Vance described as indicative of the Democrats’ discomfort with their policies.

“So I think that what it is, is two people, Kamala Harris and Tim Walz, who aren’t comfortable in their own skin because they aren’t comfortable with their policy positions for the American people. And so their name calling, instead of actually telling the American people how they’re going to make their lives better. I think that’s weird, Dana, but look, they can call me whatever they want to,” Vance explained.

The Ohio Senator’s remarks come as a response to Democrats rallying around a statement from Walz, who, in an MSNBC interview weeks before being chosen as Harris’ running mate, called former President Donald Trump and Vance “just weird.”

The campaign trail has also heated up with Vance launching attacks over the military record of Governor Walz. Bash brought up the accusations, leading to one of the more heated moments of the discussion. However, Vance stood firm, saying, “This is a guy who was captured on video saying I carried a gun in war. He never went to war.”

“He’s a veteran of a war nodding along in agreement instead of saying ‘no, no, no, I did serve my country and I did it honorably, but I never went to a war zone.’ I’m not criticizing Tim Walz’s service,” Vance said. “I’m criticizing the fact that he lied about his service for political gain, Dana. Now I served in the United States Marine Corps and you know this. And look, there are a lot of things that I’m proud about.”

“He knew he was going to Iraq,” Vance said. “He decided to quit — to retire; whatever word you want to use … because he wanted to run for Congress. He lied about that. He said that when he decided to retire, he did not know he was going to Iraq. That is another untruth, as even his senior military officer said.”

“The truth is that Tim Walz didn’t tell the truth, and importantly, Dana, this is about Kamala Harris’ judgment.”

Vice President Harris and former President Trump are bracing for a busy week as they continue their pursuit of the White House. The two are set to face off in a highly anticipated debate on September 10, which was finalized after prolonged discussions.

The knives are out for Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz one day after he was selected by Vice President Kamala Harris as her running mate, with one Republican guest refusing to let CNN host Dana Bash off the hook after she claimed that the Democrat’s “superpower” is “how normal” he is during a surreal moment in American politics.

Scott Jennings, a conservative contributor to the network, blasted Bash after she credited Harris for choosing Walz, a midwesterner who has previously drawn praise from both Republican and Democratic politicians in his home state before taking a hard-left turn as chief executive. One day later, Republicans are leaning into claims that Walz presided over a catastrophic series of riots in the capital city of Minneapolis following the 2020 death of George Floyd and spotlighted violence that occurred during a nationwide summer of unrest. Jennings carried the torch in his reply to Bash.

“Is he [normal]?” Jennings asked in response. “I don’t know. Is it normal to let the biggest city in your state burn while you’re the Governor for four days destroying thousands of businesses, hundreds of millions of dollars in property damage, while you do nothing?” He continued, “Is it normal for your wife to say she opened the window so she could let the smell of tire fires waft in so they could take in the smells of this radical chaos and anarchy on the streets of Minneapolis? I don’t view any of this as normal. I view this through the lens of decision-making.”

“In two cases, they’ve showed us who they are. Kamala Harris absolutely bowed down to the radical left by not giving [Joshua] Shapiro [VP],” Jennings said, a reference to the Jewish Pennsylvania governor who Harris advisors feared would inflame tensions with pro-Palestinian activists making antisemitic criticisms of him known. “There was a nasty campaign run against him. Everybody knows it. Nobody wants to admit it but everybody knows it. And she wound up choosing the person who was not Jewish and not as talented, and not from the state that she has to win.”

Gov. Walz on Tuesday delivered a well-received speech at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago where he promised to represent blue-collar Americans in flyover county that party elites have largely ignored in recent years. However, his selection by Harris is also a sign that going with Gov. Shapiro to gain an advantage in the swing state of Pennsylvania would leave far-left extremists in the Democratic Party discontent just as she hopes to earn their support following President Joe Biden’s exit from the race. Biden had garnered heavy criticism from the left for refusing to call for a cease-fire in the war between Israel and Hamas.

“Everybody could see that [Shapiro] was the best choice, but she couldn’t do it because the party is somewhat awash in antisemitism,” Jennings said. “And for Walz, when he did what he did during the riots, to me, it was him saying ‘I don’t have the. strength or the character to stand up to this anarchy.’ So in two big decision points for this ticket, they’ve showed us they will always bow down to the radical left. So if you want to talk about normal, to the normal people in this country, bowing down to the radical left is not normal, it shouldn’t be normal, and it should be a flashing red light to the normies of America that this is not the ticket for you.”

Another line of attack being tested against Gov. Walz is the highlighting of unanswered questions about his past military service. On Tuesday two former military officers who knew Walz during his time in the National Guard insinuated he was guilty of “stolen valor” when running for Congress on a military title that was later rescinded.

Mainstream media outlets are rushing to defend the record of Vice President Kamala Harris as she gears up for her presidential run, whitewashing previous roles given to her by President Joe Biden just as her critics prepare to hold her accountable for multiple failures of the administration, including along the southern border.

CNN’s Dana Bash got the brunt of it after claiming on Tuesday that Harris was never appointed as “border czar” by the White House, a claim directly at odds with reports from 2021 which the Biden administration welcomed as it sought to roll out the red carpet for hordes of new migrants. Speaking with a roundtable on Tuesday evening, the anchor and presidential debate moderator paused the discussion to remind voters that Harris “was not and is not the border czar.” That take was repeated by Axios on Wednesday when the outlet released a report calling out the Trump campaign for holding Harris responsible for border failures under the “border czar” title, “which she never actually had,” reporters wrote.

“Harris was appointed ‘border czar’ in March of 2021, and since that time, millions and millions of illegal aliens have invaded our country and countless Americans have been killed by migrant crime because of her willful demolition of American borders and laws,” Trump told reporters on Tuesday. He was joined by Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) who introduced a resolution condemning the vice president for her role in letting upward of 12 million migrants cross illegally into the country during Biden’s time in office.

Surrogates of the Harris campaign rushed to defend her from the attacks. “She assumed the role that Vice President Biden had during the Obama administration, which is diplomacy with Central America,” former DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson told Fox News on Tuesday. “She is not the border czar.”

Popular X influencer Collin Rugg shared a clip of Bash’s claim along with multiple media outlets repeating the phrase “border czar” to describe Harris and including a statement from President Biden where he called Harris “the most qualified person” to lead the administration’s efforts around border reforms with Mexico and countries that “need help in stemming the movement of so many voters” entering the southern border. In a sit-down with USA Today, Harris repeatedly stated, “We’ve been to the border” as she defended her efforts. The reporter was quick to call her out. “You haven’t been to the border.”

“And I haven’t been to Europe,” she said, laughing. “I don’t understand the point that you’re making.”

Harris’s exposure on the issue of immigration is front and center for Democrats looking to retool the ticket since President Biden stepped down. For the first time, a majority of Americans believe there should be less immigration, according to Gallup, and illegal immigration remains a top concern of voters asked about the November elections. Vice President Harris trailed President Trump by several points in the first poll conducted since Biden stepped aside.

First reported by The Gateway Pundit, the discovery could make people question whether Dana Bash can stay unbiased while moderating CNN’s upcoming presidential debate this Thursday.

Jeremy Bash, a former Chief of Staff at the CIA and current national security analyst for NBC News and MSNBC, was among those who played a key role in misleading the American public during a critical election period. The letter was widely cited by media outlets to dismiss the Hunter Biden laptop story. This isn’t the first time CNN’s credibility has been called into question. The network has previously faced allegations of leaking debate questions to Hillary Clinton’s campaign in advance. Trump is likely to call out any potential glaring conflict of interest during the debate.

Recently, the network’s leadership has been under fire as they stand by their two anchors assigned to moderate the upcoming first presidential debate of the general election. Monday’s interview on CNN’s morning show turned heated when host Kasie Hunt clashed with Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, who sharply criticized debate moderator Jake Tapper.

“Jake Tapper and Dana Bash are well respected veteran journalists who have covered politics for more than five decades combined,” CNN relayed in a statement earlier. “They have extensive experience moderating major political debates, including CNN’s Republican Presidential Primary Debate this cycle.
