“You just got to know where to look for it… There’s actually plenty left to buy if you have a tool that allows you to look at what the companies are really doing,” Veebs app co-founder and CEO Chris Rhodes said on “Varney & Co.” Tuesday.
The shopping application, introduced in July, enables grocery buyers to scan a product’s barcode to uncover the manufacturing company’s “V Score.” This score, ranging from 0 to 100, is derived based on the company’s political alignment and initiatives focused on prioritizing America.
“The rating is based on whatever values pack you choose, or you can choose several,” Rhodes explained. “And you go into the store, you scan the product and a rating comes back to you for whatever your values happen to be.”
Veebs will provide a rating of either good, fair, or poor, while also allowing users to categorize the product into a preferred or non-preferred list.

According to their website, Veebs suggests there are multiple reasons why consumers might think about changing brands today, such as quality, cost-effectiveness, performance, and customer service. By querying what the companies “stand for,” the app purportedly aids in implementing values-oriented shopping.
“If you’re looking for an ‘anti-woke’ company, then you want the conservative score to be very high,” Rhodes pointed out.
“You can look at that score of whatever product it is you are going to buy, if it has a low score, we’ll offer you alternatives,” he continued, “and you can find companies and brands and parent companies that match your values a little more closely.”
Following its initial marketing push, Veebs has reportedly achieved 50,000 downloads, as shared by its co-founder. Although the app is available for free download, the co-founder, Rhodes, specified that a monthly subscription of $0.99 is required to use the barcode scanning tool.
