Last Friday the mainstream media madly reported that the Russians had hacked something else in America, a power grid in Vermont…

From Bizpac Review:

“The story was first reported by the Washington Post. The same Washington Post that has been obsessed with eradicating “fake news” since Donald Trump was elected president.

Just one problem.

The “Russians hacked into our electric grid” story is fake news.

The left wing media, in its desperation to pin everything from Hillary’s defeat to Mariah Carey’s abysmal New Year’s Eve performance on Russian hackers, ran with the story that a computer at Burlington Electric was infiltrated. It ran without doing much checking apparently because it was a complete non-story.

The Post later ran a new story, correcting it’s original, in which it admitted it made a huge mistake.

“An earlier version of this story incorrectly said that Russian hackers had penetrated the U.S. electric grid. Authorities say there is no indication of that so far. The computer at Burlington Electric that was hacked was not attached to the grid,” it wrote in a later post.

What actually happened was that an employee of Burlington Electric had a computer that was not connected to the grid infected with outdated malware.

What’s more is that, like most computer infections, sources close to the situation told the Daily Mail that the virus was likely obtained by the user visiting a questionable website and not some grand Russian scheme to hack the American electric grid.

If the current trend is any indication it looks like “Russian hackers did it” could be 2017’s “Global warming caused it.””
